Have you ever played Klax (please see this Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klax) on what the game is about and what home computer/desktop versions there are; I’d also recommend this online Flash implementation (http://www.actionflash.com/klax.php) so that you can get a feeling what the genre is all about without having to install anything)?

Now, the second Klax clone (the first being ballSHOOTER games’ Mario Docker (http://www.ballshooter.com/games/?prod_id=30&referer1=gameAdv&referer2=md) costing $9.95 and running on all ARM-based Pocket PC’s) has arrived: AIM Productions’ Frosty Factory (http://www.aimproductions.be/ppc_catalogue_title.asp?Product_ID=136), setting you back with €14.99/$14.99 .

It, unlike Mario Docker, is more like the “traditional” Klax (with its conveyor belt) and also has the capability of speeding up the belt by pressing the D-pad upwards (which isn’t possible with Mario Docker).

However, costing only $9.95, Mario Docker is considerably cheaper (particularly if you get (http://www.ballshooter.com/buy/) all the ballSHOOTER games for $49.95) and, the most important thing, it has in-game music, unlike the new AIM title.

Verdict

I’m not particularly happy with this game. Compared to Mario Docker, it certainly lacks in the in-game music department and is considerably more expensive. Given the high quality of some other AIM Productions titles (for example, Toki Tori or Tmax - see their mini-reviews in the Roundup of All Pocket PC Games Part I (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/052006MIPSGames.asp)), I certainly hoped for more. If only it had in-game music...

All in all, if you want to play a Klax clone, give the ballSHOOTER games title a try first – I think you’ll like it more than Frosty Factory.
