I need to lock down some cingular 8100 devices include acess to settings and hiding the system tray. Is there any way I can edit the registry ???

If you're refering to the actual registry settings to do this, I can't help - though I'm not sure you can do anything about the sytem tray or soft buttons in any case (you can definitely disable the settings entries in the registry).

hiding certain 'settings' icons is easy with Tweaks2k2. Once it's installed on the device, you can go into the app and goto security and remove the control panels that you don't want the user to see. This can be done with manual registry entries but I don't know what they are.
