SimbSoft (http://www.simbsoft.com) has been releasing some, in general, simple, albeit really entertaining games. (You may want to check out for example section 2.20 in the Roundup of All Pocket PC Games Part I (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/052006MIPSGames.asp) for more on their titles, including comparisons to the alternate games of the same genre.)

In May, after quite a long pause, they have come up with four updates of their existing games:

A Blackberry-compliant version (http://www.simbsoft.com/products/volleyballblackberry/) of their excellent Arcade Volleyball clone, Volleyball (http://www.simbsoft.com/products/volleyball/) has been released.

The Pocket PC version of Volleyball (http://www.simbsoft.com/products/volleyball/) itself has also been updated to version 1.2, bringing in Treo 700w support. Now, it supports all the square-screen Pocket PC’s.

They have released Sudoku Gold (http://www.simbsoft.com/products/sudokugold/) (current version: 1.1), sporting WM5, in addition to QVGA. Note that, much as the developer promises VGA support, this only means compatibility with VGA devices – the game does not use high resolution. This may be a showstopper for many with VGA devices.

Their table tennis game, Smart Tennis (http://www.simbsoft.com/products/smarttennis/), has been updated to version 1.1. Unfortunately, this is not a hi-res title either.

As far as real device compliance is concerned, Sudoku Gold and Smart Tennis aren’t compatible with the Pocket PC 2002 iPAQ 3660 (Volleyball 1.2 is). All the three titles work, on the other hand, great on my other test Pocket PC’s (iPAQ 2210; HTC Wizard with the latest i-mate ROM, Pocket Loox 720; Dell Axim x51v A06; I’ll test the WM5 hx4700 compliance later (now, I’m running some long-lasting filesys.exe tests on it.))
