<a href="http://channel9.msdn.com/wiki/default.aspx/MobileDeveloper.ListOfAKUs">http://channel9.msdn.com/wiki/default.aspx/MobileDeveloper.ListOfAKUs</a><br /><br />Adaptation Kit Updates, or AKU's, are updates to Windows Mobile 5. For the most part, it doesn't really matter to the end user or even developer what AKU level is on the device unless there is a specific fix implemented in a particular AKU, or in the case of WM5, AKU2 is significant because it contains the MSFP, or Messaging and Security Feature Pack, which is how HTTP push is enabled for email, plus a whole lot of other goodies. So, which AKU is on your device? My K-Jam shows build 14847.2.0.0, and according to the chart linked to above, that makes AKU 2 for me. You can also get the AKU level programmatically. Details at the linked page.

My Qtek 9100 is the same - no surprise I guess as they are the same machine! What does AKU2.5 have in it that AKU2 doesn't - is that the BT upgrade?

Aren't the last three numbers in the build string the AKU version? That's what it's seemed to me so far, and Jason Langridge posted as such (http://blogs.msdn.com/jasonlan/archive/2006/01/01/508193.asp).

AKU2 is not yet out for the XV6700 (on Verizon); if you're using the PPC-6700, I do believe Sprint has the AKU2 ROM update available.

Nice article. My HX4700 shows 14406 build 1.1.1. I still wonder what are differences between releases.
Which release that support bluetooth A2DP Profile?
Any news from HP whether they'll release future updates and patches for this HX?
Thanks.

This is Verizon, I bet the delay in our AKU update was done to give the Treo 700w a bigger appeal to the enterprise users. Sad and annoying as it is, but Verizon does NOT support their devices the way they should and if anything that, while not necessarily a class action lawsuit is worthy of complaints to your state attorney generals office. Maybe Elliot Spitzer in NY would be interested in their lack of support.

AKU 2.2 was released for the Verizon XV-6700 yesterday on the UTSTAR site:

http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx

Still trying to find a list of what exactly 2.2 contains.

They only list a few changes in the official document:
Verizon XV-6700 Maintenance Release
This software update makes available some new features and corrects some issues. Some of the primary enhancements are:
• Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack- The Messaging &amp; Security Feature Pack for Windows Mobile 5.0 enables business users to easily stay connected to their email while on the go and helps businesses to better protect device data. Benefits of this feature pack include:
• Direct Push Technology- Keep your Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Inbox up-to-date using Direct Push Technology. Plus, you can now browse your corporate address book over-the-air with Exchange 2003 SP2. Faster transfer and synchronization of data- Outlook data sent between Exchange Server and a Windows Mobile-based device is significantly compressed, enabling faster transfer and synchronization of data.
• Better protection of device data and management of devices
o Remotely enforced IT policy
o Local and remote device wipe
o Certificate-based authentication
• Enhanced security using Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME)
• Added a Voice Dialing application to allow you to leverage the handsfree capability already on the device.
• Main Today Screen provides you the capability to lock the device and prevent inadvertently activity.
• Corrected an issue where unknowingly, to the user, the device would enter into "Flight Mode"
• Added the capability to enable Wi-Fi and CDMA simultaneously.
