I just bought an unlocked MDA Vario, which has just about as many aliases as Jason Bourke. It was bundled on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9721860381&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.ca%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D9721860381%26fvi%3D1) with a 1 GB miniSD card and a Motorola H500 bluetooth headset. Total came to 556$ US Dollars, including shipping.

I gave up my Treo 650 to my wife when her Treo 600 fell ill and died. I was looking at the Treo 700w, but the Treo screen size was unbelievably annoying for me when I used the 650. Of course, I'd been using the Tungsten T3 for years, so a screen real estate difference like that was a monumental obstacle to overcome. This will be my first PPC device since my iPaq 2215 (back before they inserted a couple random letters before their model numbers) that I ordered on its release date, only to find out that PPC's and Mac play poorly together.

My chief dilemma was trying to work through which of the PPC/Smartphone models best fit my needs versus which was least likely to be a dud. I say this because the reviews for every single PPC phone is a mixed bag of bliss and complaining that always ends with a postive rating. It's kind of like watching the 2002 winter games ice dancing... something just niggles at you about the high scores they received from the reviewsers/judges.

So here I am, a soon to be owner... Can't wait. I hope customs plays nice.

Um, just about as many aliases as Jason Bourne.

Unless you know more about Jason Bourke than I do. ;)
