I've been wondering when the new version would be out. According to the ListPro file that I keep on such things, the last version came out 133 days before this one did. ;)

Sounds like a reason for a new product purchase. I know this is off topic but perhaps you can enlighten us on how you use ListPro to manage your software versions.

This sounds like spin off thread if I've ever heard one.

I keep a simple ListPro list - flag, item, date - and record when I install/upgrade/uninstall something or otherwise make a system change to the device.

Whenever I backup the device, I insert a new item with that day's date in the Item column. Then any changes I make since then get indented with the date of the change noted in the date column.

Items that are less than two backups old get flagged. When an item passes the two backup age (I don't backup daily for various reasons), it loses the flag. The exception to this rule is software that I rely on daily, eg. Pocket Informant, FlexWallet, ListPro - those items keep the flag even after two backups have passed.

Here's a sample screenshot of the list:

I see that it added Call with Skype under the Outlook Mobile Plugins, nice. I have a question though, on their site, it reads:

"Added COM port setting for dialing on WM5 devices"

Does that mean dial via Bluetooth COM or does this refer to Skype? I can't seem to find any settings.

I keep the software registration info and such in SplashID myself.

The actual downloaded installation and the versioning is handled on the PC by directory structures. e.g.:

\PPC
\PPC\Software
\PPC\Software\Not Free
\PPC\Software\Not Free\PocketInformant
\PPC\Software\Not Free\PocketInformant\Rev4
\PPC\Software\Not Free\PocketInformant\Rev5
.
.
.

I guess I'm most interested in the current install and the prior install. When a new one comes out, I create a new directory, download it, install it. After it's proved itself I delete the oldest version directory. Usually.

I have a couple of Questions.
I have PI-2005 Rev 4 on my Hx4700 that came with the WM2005 upgrade I bought from HP.
So do I come under the following offer?
"Revision 5 is a free update for all Pocket Informant 2005 users"
Also, I noticed that my PI Rev 4 does not have a Registration number filled in. Should I have something from the HP upgrade for a Reg number?
And will it work for the free Rev 5 upgrade?
Thanks for any thoughts on this...

Some WM5 Bluetooth implementations don't register their COM ports for Bluetooth access to phones so our normal COM enumerations won't find them. So we added the full COM port settings as a way to get around that. Nothing more.

Thanks Alex for the info on the upgrade to Rev 5.
But I am still curious about the Reg Code for Rev 4 on my Hx4700 with WM2005. Any ideas on how that works?
Thanks...
