Add in the external keyboard, and the package gets sweeter. While we're stuck with a small card size (MiniSD), there isn't much to not like about this unit! Recently I have been considering getting a Treo 700w GSM when they come out, but then I remembered the replacement model for the hw6515. I'm definately going to wait for it! WiFi, Widcomm BT, no antenna, flip cover, sounds good to me!!

Let me guess, you forgot that it was HP!

I am very tempted by this device but I am going to wait for the Loox T830 which is due July.

I found one for sale on Ebay. Of course being the person I am I couldn't prevent myself from buying it.
I currently use the Palm Treo 650 which of course is still easier to use but the 6915 is much more powerful especially from the hardware point of view.
I'm more than happy to answer anyone who has any questions about the device but please try to keep the questions simple as I'm not much of a tech geek.
I don't know if it's just in this pre-production device or not but it didn't come with any speech recognition software for voice dialing and such.
A nice feature is the ability to switch profile settings from the today screen, plus the ability to switch on the Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS and phone from the same today screen. HP have also added the ability to control these by a long press of the power buttun, when if pressed will pop up a screen of which one chooses which connections to turn off or on.
It comes with a version of Pocket Streets from Microsoft but after using TomTom on my Treo I found Pocket Streets too basic and would buy TomTom if I continue using the device.
Everything else is just like any other W.M. 5.0 device.
Like I said anyone want any more specs please don't hesitate.

Does it support controlling e.g. audio equipment using IR port? (I think no as it has IRda as opposed to CIR, but I thought to ask anyway...)

Does wifi support WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption? If not, which types of encryption are supported?

How can I find out these things for you.
You'll have to give me step by step instructions to find out.
It doesn't come with remote control software so I need to install one to see if it works. Any ideas?

Their other 'oscilloscope'-like ir analysis software works over irda, so this one might work with 6915.

As far as I remember, there was a nice comparison of several remote control apps on PPC Thoughts, but I cannot find it right now...

When are they going to release this without the hardware keyboard and square screen combo? how about a rectangle screen?

According to the system information I managed to get out of the device it says: Global Locate. I hope that helps.

I doubt it'll happen anytime soon. HP's Mobile Messenger series seems very bent on the use of a keyboard putting it in the same field as the Treos. Nothing like a bit of competition to fuel the industry. ;)

Now if you do like the iPAQs and want a Phone Edition without a keyboard, check out the iPAQ rw6828. Unfortunately, it's only available in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, so if you're located elsewhere, you'll have to import it.

I have had HP before, with the Jornada 545, iPAQ 1930, 2210 and 4355 and they were great. The only issue I had with any of them was the 2210 with the infamous side grips problem. I received a replacement set within 3 days!

Definately. The thumboard is one of the key features of the Mobile Messenger series. The only improvement that I would really like on this device is a 480x480 screen. An SD slot would be good, but I can live with miniSD.

This is an old thread but I'll try anyway....

Do you still have the 6915? Being a Treo owner thinking about switching to the HP, I have several questions about the iPaq especially to someone who has owned a Treo.

Thanks.
