MTV, punk rock, parachute pants...THAT was coolness defined, until Disney released TRON; and suddenly Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner were way cool (yeah...like THAT lasted...HA!)...This weekend, I got thrown back to those days of Yore (without the pain) when ETEN sent me their latest introduction to the Windows Mobile Phone Edition arena, the G500. With its black exterior and blue backlit lines I got a free trip back in time. However, the G500 is definitely a device for today's times. With quad-band GSM/GPRS cellular features, Bluetooth 2.0 functionality, and built in SiRF III GPS receiver, is it the all-in-one converged device you've been looking for, or just nice to look at? Let's take a thorough look!"</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/westfall-g500.jpg><br /><br />PocketNow has released a fairly comprehensive review of this new ETEN unit, with a lot of screenshots (Which I like to see!) and other good info. Not a bad unit, I just wish it had WiFi!

I don't know if you guys think like me, alot of new devices with nearly same specs (maybe some with GPS, and or WIFI) but it is hard to see a real improvement or advantage between the Mobile 5.0 devices. I will really should like to see some with Wifi, VGA screen 128 or 256 RAM, integrated Keyboard, SD memory slot, bluetooth (I really do not care about GPS but will be a nice feature) slim, light and nice looking. RELIABLE!!

Almost the GPS/Phone I want - but I want to access the GPS over bluetooth from my notebook!

Yeah. It seems like everything new these days is 300-400 MHz, 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM, QVGA, WM5, etcetera, etcetera. No major advances in processors, memory, nothing. Nobody's moving the ball at the moment.

GPS is interesting and all, but to me, Wi-Fi is just plain important.

I don't know if you like the iPAQ hw6000 Series but i know that the hw6515 has the ability to be used as a pass-through GPS device to your laptop by Bluetooth.
I don't know if that feature is very popular across other GPS Pocket PCs but I think it's an important feature for those devices.

Myself, I'm waiting fot the Pocket Loox T series. The screen is a bit small though. But seems to have everything else.
