Have fun on the go. It's so convenient to put your favorite movie, TV show in pocket and watch them anywhere, anytime. This software provides you a easy to use interface to convert video files(wmv, rm, rmvb, avi, mpeg, mpg, Tivo2Go, etc) or DVD(*.vob) into small size portable format(avi) playable on your device. Just it with SOMPY MovieEncoder !!"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-2006040-Sompy.jpg" /><br /><br />It's great to see development in this area, because there aren't many easy to use video tools. There's no mention of DVR-MS file conversion, which is one format any Windows Media Center Edition owner would like to see.

Yeah, that would be nice, but unfortunately, i watch and record only HDTV with mine (no cable) OTA. idont think even my hx4700 with the fast processor would be able to work with it!!!!!!!!! :(

I don't know if this is ok or not but I have a dvr from comcast and I would love to get my recordings onto anything but tape. Right now I have to play the recorded movie/whatever and record it on tape. Talk about nasty. I noticed tha there is a network jack in the back. Does anyone know how to get the recordings out of there without recording them to tape?

HDTV is no different than a regular analog signal in that it would need to be down-sampled to work on your Pocket PC...

Odds are very good that your box is locked down and you'll be unable to pull anything off it. To check, Google your DVR and see if anyone in a forum has figured out a way to get stuff off it...

Looks good. Both my magician and x51v show the movies perfectly.

I tried encoding some movies with Sompy. As soon as I click "Make", I get a dialog saying the movie is finished, but no file is ever written. Anyone solved this yet?

I had the same problem - I gave up after a few minutes, the user interface and design is a bit screwy...it doesn't make a lot of sense.

The main issue I've run into is when I'm encoding my DVD stuff. For anything with a commentary, it adds the commentary voiceovers and I see nothing in the options allowing me to disable them.
