I'm experiencing some echoing in phone calls with my PocketPC phone. I was told that I could adjust the Microphone gain control to alleviate this, but I'm not expert on this setting.

Can someone explain the basic concept behind gain control? Should I increasing the setting? Or decreasing the setting.

thanks

No, Microphone gain control is just a volume boost - cancelling echoing requires...echo cancellation. ;-) That's a feature that, to the best of my knowledge, isn't available on any Pocket PC Phone Editions out yet. Many times echoing is an artifact of digital phone networks and not related to the hardware. If I ever get an "echo call" I hang up and call again, and it's usually fine. Are you sure this problem is from your Pocket PC?

the echoing is consistent on every call that I make since using the particular phone. The OEM suggested that I try adjusting The GSM microphone gain.

I tried reducing the setting and found a significant decrease in the echo.
