Customers must first activate the mobile component of PayPal by heading online. After that you'll be able to send money and check your account status by texting 729725 (PAYPAL). Security is obviously an issue, but every transaction with PayPal Mobile requires a PIN that you set up when activating the mobile features. PayPal will also come back and ask for confirmation via an automated call for each transaction."</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/paypal_logo.gif border=1><br /><br />Well, sure enough, Paypal has soft launched it's mobile version. I added my cell phone today and went through the verification process. I can see this coming in handy with my paypal debit card, so I know how much is in my account at any given time. What are your opinions on this new mobile service?

While this is seemingly good news, this requires extra steps that need to be taken by the user. It's unclear whether the user will do this or not. But maybe it's worth a shot to see!

Last I checked (maybe about a year ago), PayPal's normal response HTML pages did not work on Pocket Internet Explorer. Does anyone know if this has changed? Does PayPal now support Pocket Internet Explorer in the payment response web pages on the PayPal site?

Normal HTML pages will load on WM5 pocket ie just fine, but I usually will just use the wap site myself.

I signed up for the mobile version, but until more users get on board, it may not be that useful.

In the future I could see however, paying a buddy half the bar tab by sending some money to his phone...etc. That would be pretty useful.
