Welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts.

What would you use your PDA for? A lot of college students seem to love VGA devices such as the Dell Axim X51v, HP iPAQ hx4700, and Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX 720. If I were to pick one, I'd go with the former, since it provides plenty of bang for buck. It's the only one of the three with an Intel 2700G GPU, so if you ever need to give a presentation, you can use the X51v + VGA-out cable, and effectively leave the laptop at home.

Otherwise, there are converged devices - namely, Pocket PC Phone Edition devices - if you want to combine a phone with a PDA.

The Axim X50/1v is arguably your best bet then with its vga out for presentations and VGA screen for design applications.

Yes, I'm with Andy. Get an Axim X51V(or X50V if you are on a budget). Along with it, buy the VGA out cable too for the axim to connect directly to the VGA monitor or projector

You will also find a great quality but far cheaper VGA out cable for the X50/1v here:

Yeah, i'm with everyone else.

I have the Dell Axim X51v, and i love it!!!!
Just make sure you install the latest Driver
A06, or else you'll have battery issues.

Is a VGA output like a screen monitor or something?

It allows you to connect the Axim directly to a monitor, projector or other device with a standard VGA connector and display the contents of the Axim screen on your external display of choice.

You can learn more about the VGA-out capabilities of the X50v (and X51v) here: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,41409:dont_paginate,1

And if it matters, I used the Pc-Mobile cable that Andy referred to earlier.
