The Technology CEO Council said on Wednesday it will issue a report urging Congress to order the Bush administration to analyze which airwaves are not being used best, and how they might be re-allocated."</i><br /><br />The Technology CEO Council, comprised of executives from HP, IBM, Intel, Dell, EMC, Unisys, Motorola, and many more, hopes to bring the US up to speed with the rest of the wireless world, since we are held back with regulations that are almost 40 years old. The fact that these companies have a worldwide presence makes the need more evident: in designing and manufacturing their devices, they are constantly running out of room to find a good spectrum of airwaves to work in, from over a half-dozen bands for cellular technology to the oversaturated 2.4GHz frequency used by cordless phones, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.<br /><br />Maybe it's just me, but perhaps if we didn't have so many incompatible "emerging standards," we wouldn't be needing all different bands of airwaves for them.
