Note that this firmware update is different to ROM 1.01 (which we posted on a week ago), and although it does not force a hard-reset, we still suggest you make a backup of your device before applying it.

This is great news! Now hopefully Dell can implement this same fix to their X50/X51's running WM5 (not holding my breath since they haven't even officially acknowledged the problem  ).

2 days later and not a single soft boot with an SD chip in place. Power use went from 100% to 94% over same period (even used calc at the car dealership). Used to have to soft boot every morning and would have 20-30% power loss over night. Maybe they got it right this time?!?

Wondering if anyone hads run into this problem. I loaded the upgrade for WM5 onto my 1955 and it took care of the device not turning on in the morning and the excessive battery drain. Great. Now a new problem has arisen  About once a day, Mortplayer starts acting up, when playing a song, it starts to break up, becomes very choppy and slow. Closing Mortplayer and restarting it has no effect. If I soft boot, then I'm good for a day or so, then it will go choppy again right in the middle of a song, even after playing fine for 2-3 constantly. All music is on a 1 GB SD Sandisk chip. Had no problems like this prior to upgrade. So question is, do I want to softboot every morning with previous version of OS and get battery drain, or do I want to reboot every day and a half when music starts to break up? :?:

Try downloading and installing MortPlayer Beta 3.3.1b6 (http://www.sto-helit.de/modules/wmpdownloads/visit.php?cid=4&lid=92) and see if that fixes the problem.

Try downloading and installing MortPlayer Beta 3.3.1b6

They have just come out with v3.3.1b7.

Don't make my mistake! DO NOT uninstall previous version !!! The 1b7 beta version is just an .exe file. Copy it over to the PDA with Activesync and then using File Explorer, paste it into the Mortplayer directory, copying over the older .exe version. Now open Mortplayer and all of the settings will still be the same but if you look at the "About" menu, it will show v3.3.1b7. Hope this will correct the problems encountered after the HP upgrade!
