Unfortunately it looks like the Tornado gained the same unsightly bulge Cingular's 2125 did when it hit the streets on its US release, but better here and uglier than not here at all (except but by import), right? Whatever the case, just say it with me: "Fiiiinnnaaalllly". :)

It is about time T-Mobile got back in the Windows Mobile game.

All it took was for me to buy a K-JAM and now T-Mo will be getting it. Granted it will probably have a bunch of t-mo junk on it that I would never have used, but still, the price difference would have been nice.

Although an unlocked device is a nice benefit in case I ever decide to go changing. I emailed T-Mobile a few times after my contract was up to get an unlock code for my 6315 and never got a reply

I am loving this device. I have the T-mobile version of this HTC wizard model for about a month now.

Don't worry about the extra T-mobile stuff on it or the sim lock on it.

On http://xda-developers.com are extra tools available to solve certain problems.

Now I only use my HP iPAQ hx4700 for my navigation in my car :D

Soon I will have a review of the new Pielframa case and the brodit carholder for the HTC wizard devices a.k.a. MDA Vario, Qtek 9010, K-jam and many more.
Keep checking bostonpocketpc.com in the future

I wonder if they've finally fixed the intercarrier SMS disaster.

I had an MPX220 and I couldn't reply to my wife's SMSes from Verizon. I'll definitely give this little guy a go if they've fixed that. I loved my smartphone except for that.

Seems to be an ongoing bug. I just hit New and put my wife's verizon SMS number in and send. THat works ok. A bit of a hassle, but only 4 taps vs 1. The PPC recognizes her on 2 letters.

I did some Googling and supposedly this is fixed with WM5...

At least they have a 14 day return policy so if I manage to pick one up from my super top secret friends at corporate, I can bring it back if it doesn't work 8)

Never occurred to me that this was a WM issue vs a T-Mobile vs Verizon issue. I'll test today.

Just pinged some messages back and forth from my K-Jam on T-Mobile to my wife on Verizon. No problems. Seems to work now. Perhaps it was a Wm2003SE issue. {shrug}

What is with the hump on top of that phone?

What is with the hump on top of that phone?

It's for increased reception. I'm not a fan of it though.

If you're interested in finding out more, head over to Smartphone Thoughts and search for the terms, "hump" and "HumpPhone". There are some rather amusing responses.

Looks interesting, though I'd still like to see a little more meat I guess. I liked the Sprint version (6700?) enough, that had some good potential.

I tried it on my brand spanking new 2125 hump phone

jerry - how is that hump phone?

Well, how would you test that (reception)? It's not like you can turn the hump off, test your signal strength, then turn it back on...

I've moved this thread out of the "Name the Hump" thread and over to the Cingular forum.

The hump is designed for an improved reception.

"My new 2125 resting perfectly on my cube divider at the office (thanks to some thumb tacks and the hump). My old SMT5600 would always come loose, but now that I have the hump, it's all good!!!"

http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Jerry-2125.jpg

Now we have talked about other names for the hump. This person has found one. How about some other uses for it? Let's hear your ideas. :)

"You love my lady lumps,
My hump, my hump, my hump,
My humps they got u..."

-Black Eyed Peas

Hump-O-Licious!!!!

And for the record, I don't have any problems with reception on my SP5 without the hump.

After speaking with a customer service rep today at approximately 5:40pm EST they told me that it would be on sale on February 20th. No pre-orders are available (according to this particular rep). I hope she is wrong and its just January.

After speaking with a customer service rep today at approximately 5:40pm EST they told me that it would be on sale on February 20th. No pre-orders are available (according to this particular rep). I hope she is wrong and its just January.
This afternoon, I called T-Mo at the number on their site (1-877-387-4324). The 2 "new products" reps I talked to knew NOTHING about it. One suggested I call their corporate office at 1-800-348-9270. The number is/was disconnected :( . The second one told me to call "Business Direct" at 1-866-464-8662. I called them and they knew LESS than NOTHING about "any new PDA phones" coming out under the T-Mo label. They suggested I contact the local dealer for more info. 8O

No one seemed to care that the "Corporate Office" number they give out at customer service/sales is inoperative. No one seemed to care to try to find out the answers to my question as to what would be offered, where and when. None of them knew anything about the availability of the old IPAQ 6315 or any of the new PDA phones coming down the pike.

If anyone is getting someone at T-Mo that has a clue about any Windows-based PDA phone under the T-Mo plans, is doing better than I am!

Hmm... sounds like you had a bad experience with thier service, which is the one thing they are known for typically(being good that is).

I don't know if this matters or not but I called Tmobile through the customer care number pre-programmed in my phone, and FROM my Tmobile phone. So they knew I was a customer already.

Though i doubt it, its possible I guess that it could make a difference in what info they give out. (again, i doubt it but its the only thing i can think of)

Anyways, I hope shes wrong cause i would like to see this out sooner rather than later.

I guess I could always just get one from an import site, they aren't that much more really than what Tmo will prolly sell them for. (I just got in a new contract 3 months ago so I can't upgrade again for another 8 months unless I just do a sim card hop from an unlocked phone)

Well, I told them I was a customer, but they didn't attempt to verify anything. They were just clueless about what is coming out and what is available.

I also forgot to mention that I told them the e-mail link at their contact page (http://www.t-mobile.com/contact/) is a DEAD LINK. They were like, "oh, well, whatever." More like a "not my department" brush-off, not realizing that if I could have e-mailed my inquiry, I would not need to "bother" them with a question they are obviously not equipped to answer.

Dissapointing, to say the least. Particularly from a company that claims to have the very best customer service on the planet. That claim really rings hollow when you call and eventually get to a "live" person that knows less than nothing about their products, doesn't care that the corporate 1-800# they are giving out is inop, doesn't care that the support e-mail link on their website is dead.

The only thing that could have been worse is if they had yelled at me and hung up, but, of course, they were syrupy sweet and polite. It makes me appreciate the good ol' days when customer service was rude, but able to actually help you!

Just because Engadget "has a source" that said the phones would be available for pre-order today doesn't mean that's really true.

If the source was off, then why on earth would you expect T-Mobile "new product" reps to know anything about phones that T-Mobile has not yet themselves announced?

Here you go... Looks like you can preregister for information on the two phones which will be released in Feb.

http://www.t-mobile.com/promos/online/preregmdasda/?WT.mc_n=PreRegPromo_PRCol&WT.mc_t=ExternalMedia

I'd call T-Mobile and let them know that they misspelled "and" in the browser title bar, but I don't think they'd care. ;)

It's not actually a pre-order at all, but one registers to become "notified" when the phone comes out.

Normally I would not so register at all, rather meaningless, and why give out my e-mail address unnecessarily.

I did do this registration, however. Why? T-Mo USA has had such a bad history regarding smartphones, I'm afraid they might not actually come out with these. This "pre-order" thing is to gauge interest in these phones. Therefore, the more people "register" at that page, the more likelihood that the phones will actually be released by T-Mo.

I recommend that everyone do that registration, and say you are interested in both phones.
