Other than the fact it completely crapped on my device when I upgraded.

I'm restoring from back up - several .dll issues after trying to upgrade and failing...

Tech support email already sent - will post a follow up....

I haven't upgraded since 5.02
While I still use the product, their upgrade policy seems a bit exploitative to me.

I guess I'm spoiled by other developers.

Well, starting with 5.03 SOTI extended their free upgrade term from six months to... eight.

I got on board for the 5.0 release and was very happy with the program. Releases 5.01 - 5.03, which came in during my six month term, were bug patches that current users really deserved whether they were still in the window or not. (5.03 was a serious upgrade in terms of performance and reliability... almost like a whole new app.)

I hit a wall with the 5.04 release. Even though it came in during my upgradeable period, the client program when installed on my e800 (WM2003, myVGA) seemed to corrupt the whole device. On a soft reset the system would never come out from a black screen. It required a hard reset and image reinstall. Tried several times to get 5.04 to work but it always ended up needing the hard reset.

I luckily found a version of 5.03 on the net and was able to downgrade and haven't had any problems since.

In short: Great program. Crappy support policy.

I have gotten 5.05 loaded up and working....

During the upgrade process, I was prompted to uninstall the previous version on the x50v. No problem- done this kinda thing before. I immediately began getting .dll errors. The SOTI application was gone from the Remove Programs applet as well.

I soft-reset the device and still got the errors. I attempted to do an install (hoping for the best) and it failed with the .dll errors continuing.

Sigh...

I restored just the system files of my system using a yet-to-be-released backup application I'm beta testing and got the .dll error resolved and the old version of SOTI was back in Remove Programs. I removed it from there then docked and reinstalled.

All is well.

I suspect this was an issue with me particularly not necessarily the product itself.

iirc, they do. I tried an earlier version a few months ago and I was able to download and install just the two themes I wanted.
