Hi,

I would like to start using Yahoo! Intellisync to get the data I have in that site into my PPC. However, I see comments on the Web that the product has not been updated for years and no support is provided anymore. I also see stories about people losing all their data, and just having glitches in general. In fact, I used it with my now dead Palm and it stopped working at some point for me too.

So I would just like to check with the users here if people have a general opinion on the reliability of YI. Any good/horror stories around?

Thanks,

Rodrigo

When I tried to synch my contacts with the online Yahoo Mail address book, Yahoo! Intellisync didn't work with my Pocket PC (unlike with my Palm OS Zire 71). However, it's not that hard to export Yahoo Mail address books and improt them to the desktop Outlook and, then, to synch this stuff to your PPC's.

I've scrutinized this stuff at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17393

Note that times may have changed in the meantime and Yahoo! Intellisync may work now - I don't know, haven't tested it now.

Thanks. I tried running it yesterday and it didn't work for me either. I will check your solution, though.

Best,

Rodrigo

Good to know. BTW, Yahoo Mail has added true Outlook-compatible export capabilities; so, you msot probably won't need to use Outlook Express as an inner step to import your contacts. You can import the contacts straight into Outlook.

Also doesn't require Outlook as a middleman. Useful for one PDA guys who might lose their data with their next clumsy bathtub/ RSS incidents.

Did you test the synchronizator? Last time I checked (some half a year ago), it just didn't synchronize anything.

Did you test the synchronizator? Last time I checked (some half a year ago), it just didn't synchronize anything. Yes. I used to do that on a regular basis as part of a backup regimen (Doomsday scenario: Housefire and all hardware is gone). This was with my X5 & I've had the X50v well past warranty. 2 years would be a reasonable estimate. I've not kept it maintained since I switched PC's & my "new" PC ended up requiring a new Mobo. Been lazy I guess. :D
