when i go through settings--> menu and try to uncheck an item it gives me an error message saying "unable to move this item". it wont let me do anything, why? it also shows two entries for each program, why?

i went to windows/start menu and that is fine.

there's some hard-coded stuff if you go through the settings dialogue You can override them by editing the start menu folder. Seems to be a fact of life.

If an item is listed in both the Start Menu and in the Programs folder under the Start Menu, it will not let you uncheck the item that's in the Start Menu. The way to correct this is to go into either \Windows\Start Menu or \Windows\Start Menu\Programs with a file explorer and delete the shortcut you don't want.
