Meanwhile, their almost SIX years old Pocket Bible 2 is still waiting for a major update to make it actually usable with the multitude of Bibles and reference material available from Laridian.

I would really love to use all the books I bought from them over years and buy some more, but it is so cumbersome and confusing to manage all these books in this outdated application that I actually use now Bible reader programs from other parties. Their book selection does not come close to what Laridian sells, but at least those programs are usable and work great with multiple Bible versions and various reference materials.

I wish Laridian would finally listen to their users and learn something from the feature sets of competing products, and FINALLY give us a better version of Pocket Bible.

I don't mean to offend, but IMHO, there's entirely too much talk of god and the bible on this site for my comfort...

Please don't think less of me for the above comment. I have nothing against religion itself (I'm really an agnostic), but there ought to be equal time given to other religions, if we're to cover the topic of religion (or other holy works) in the first place, which is questionable (again, IMHO). I've never seen a single topic on Quran or Qaballah (sp?) readers. Or I-Ching or Dianetics readers for that matter.

That being said, I find it interesting that bible readers have become the 'killer app' for PDAs. They are usually ranked in the top 5 most-popular programs on any given site. I've met people who carry a PDA solely because it's smaller than the Big Book they used to carry in their bag...

I think you just rebutted your own comment. :wink: Bible programs are hugely popular on PDAs, and I like to cover them. :D In fact, the "CONTENT" forum is one of my favorites, because I cover ebooks here too.

I have made numerous requests to Laridian to update their reader without success!! Ihave purchased hundreds of dollars worrth of software from them,
(and I'm sure my purchases go over a thoussand dollars) but I will not purchase another program UNTIL they upgrade their reader...

I now use more of Olive Tree software and eSword BUT I am most happy with eBible although their service is VERY poor (Godspeed)..

Yes Bible software is very popular and this was my primary reason for purchasing my PDAs.. A 2215 and 2755...

It wasn't my primary reason, but it was certainly in the top 3-4 reasons. I investigated bible software before purchasing my Nino 320. In fact, I am not sure I had a primary reason. It was the culmination of several functions I would get out of a device.

Well, I know that just because you ask Developer X for an update and at the very moment one is not available for download does not equate to Developer X isn't doing anything.

I'll be one of the first to stand up and say that the PocketBible program itself is very long in the tooth and is inadequate to the task of managing large quantities of books. One or two translations and a commentary, dictionary, sure. Multiple translations, dozens of commentaries, a few dictionaries, several Hebrew/Greek dictionaries... no way. Way too cumbersome.

That said, their content is, IMHO, second to none.

We are talking almost SIX year, Ed. Laridian keeps absolute record in keeping their customers waiting for a new major version (I do not count minor bug fixes they released over time).

I have heard them talking about new version coming soon. That was over a year ago. Therefore, I am sure you will understand that I cannot share in your positive outlook. I will believe in the new version when I see it!
