Firstly, and not to 'butter up' anyone, I'd like to say how friendly these forums are. I've been browsing for a couple of hours as a Guest and found a collection of friendly people providing useful, consise information... which makes a change (that's the Eeyore in me!)

I am a complete PPC n00b. I've just hooked up my Mio168 to my access point and can easily take advantage of all the MSN Messenger and PIE.

I just feel I am missing something...something everyone but me knows about!

If the following can be solved with freeware it would make me very happy... :)
The first thing I'd like is a Windows Media Player remote control that sends the now playing info back to my PPC, all wifi... possible?
The second is to change PIE into landscape mode for comfortable viewing. I've seen that some of the updates to 2003 allow you to from settings, mine doesn't, is there a way round this?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts. :)

Something like Rudeo Control for WMP? (http://www.rudeo.com/wmp.htm) It includes extensive controls for playback, while showing track information.

The second is to change PIE into landscape mode for comfortable viewing. I've seen that some of the updates to 2003 allow you to from settings, mine doesn't, is there a way round this?

Unfortunately, Windows Mobile 2003 doesn't include native support for different screen orientations. Only Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices do.

There is third-party software available, but bear in mind that because the OS doesn't support different screen orientations natively, some aspects of the interface may not adjust when changing the screen from portrait to landscape mode. It does, however, work fine with Internet Explorer, if that's all you plan on using it for.

Here are a couple of programs you can try:

Nyditot: http://www.nyditot.com/Home.asp

dotPocket: http://www.dotpocket.com/

Any further questions - don't hesitate to ask.
