Through a yearly or monthly subscription, TV Guide Mobile provides consumers with the content and personalized tools they need to get the most out of the world of television."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20051205-HandmarkTVGuide.gif" /><br /><br />Looks like there's an "official" TV Guide application for Pocket PCs now, via a partnership with software developer Handmark. The application is designed to download content over a network connection on your Pocket PC. The application looks pretty slick, but I'm not sure if it's worth $30/year to me.

I have been using Pocket TV Browser by Doublebit Software for almost 3 years. Program is free - content from Evolve is $10/year. Very fast and lots of filter/viewing options.

Combine the program guide with IR remote app like Nevo, then maybe it is worth paying $30 a year.

Also it should have the ability to create calendar items for my favorite items or must watch shows. So that I don't end up planning something else. ;-)

Huh? :confused totally: Most 2003 apps run just fine in WM5.

yes, but i don't expect to see it in the news. the program feels outdated and it's makers negligent. that's how i feel, but it's probably just me.

I agree; I've been using the PTVL software for years now. The only thing this new TV Guide seems to offer is the ability to download without connecting to a PC. But, UGH! $30 is about what I'd expect from something "official."

Besides, Handmark's software is consistently high-priced (see Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, etc.).

For 30/year, maybe integration with nevo would be worth it. get a one button timer record set up....but then I use a http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/prod_recorder.asp get my shows to go.
