It would be nice if the sale was a bit longer than two days. The trials for these programs are ten days, after all.

These are pretty good products if someone's looking for food and exercising tracking apps. I bought both MST (PPC and Windows) and MPD a couple of months ago when I had to change my diet and lifestyle.

I wish they were sharper on my VGA screen (Dell Axim X50v), but aside from that, they're really effective apps and these sale prices sure beat full price or even a 20% off coupon which is what I used to buy them.

Hi there,

Looks like a very good program. I tried to buy it using the 50% off code but it doesn't work. Did anybody managed to get the discount?

Yes, but the code is only valid on the developer's web site: http://www.mysporttraining.com/order.htm

I have to say that the tracking provided by these apps has proved invaluable to me as I've revolutionised my lifestyle (and lost 110lbs as a consequence :D ).

Being able to track progress makes it much easy to remind yourself how much further you can run, more weight you can lift or weight you have lost.

You also won't regret getting a Polar HRM to go with it all.

You might want to consider the Windows version of MST, too. I bought it and it's nice to be able to add data quickly when you're near your PC, too. They're also working on a Windows version of MPD which I hear might be released in early 2006.

I've been using Personal Health & Diet Manager for a few years and sprung for MySportTraining, MyPersonalDiet and MySportTraining Food, plus the desktop version of MySportTraining, last night.

The lack of desktop sync for the diet and food modules is a bit of a letdown. So I hope that they release the desktop version of MPD soon.

Do you mean requirements? If so, there's nothing special required, other than using a supported Pocket PC and Polar HRM model (they are listed at http://www.mysporttraining.com/mst_polar.htm) and the MySportTraining Polar add-on.

The latest version of MySportTraining Polar adds a "My Polar Download" icon, which you can (like any other application) assign to a button. This makes the download as simple as setting your Polar HRM to CONNECT mode, pressing that button and align the infrared port.

I just downloaded MPD. Wow!!!

I love the constant progress monitoring. It's a great incentive/tool to use to lose weight.

The amount of foods included is also tremendous.

Finally, having t he ability to customize foods (not included within the app), meals and favorites (to quickly pick foods that you have often, e.g. hot tea for me) is great.

Excellent app for the price (with the 50% off of course  )

Would you mind doing a tutuorial on how you started and specific things you did?

I bought the programs and need to lose 40 pounds (doctor says "you are not a walking heart attack but a RUNNING heart attack" ) So I owuld love some direction with these programs.

Thanks and GREAT WORK!

> Would you mind doing a tutuorial on how you started and specific things you did?

Here are a few things to get you started in the right direction:

- Set a realistic weight goal and duration. You should aim to lose 1kg (1-2lbs) per week. MyPersonalDiet helps you do exactly that by giving a realistic diet period range to choose from. Significant (but healthy) weight loss takes months and that's how it should be.

- Build meals. When you create a meal and add food items, you can save the food items being displayed into a single meal, which you can recall later. After a few days, you will have a list of meals to choose from, and that makes data entry much faster.

- On the same token, when you add a food item, it's stored in the favorites list. Use that list often to find the food you consume regularly.

- Don't worry about daily weight fluctuations. This is normal and is to be expected. To work around that, MyPersonalDiet displays the weight trend (i.e. where your weight is heading to) and lets you know if you are on track or not. The calendar also lets you know if you are losing too much weight or not enough.

- (This is not specific to MyPersonalDiet but general to any successful weight loss.) Try to make your diet & exercise changes permanent by challenging yourself to keep the weight off and moving more. Also remember that all nutrients are essentials (that includes carbs & fat), but like anything, in moderation and in balance (too many carbs are no better than not enough). Finally, excess weight comes from consuming too much food (too many calories) and not exercising enough (not losing enough calories). You need to reverse that trend and MyPersonalDiet will definitely provide you with the information you need to do that. With serious commitment, hardly anyone fails at losing weight.

According to http://www.mysporttraining.com/products.htm#mst-ppc they do support WM5.

Well, it sort of works. Every so often, actually about half the time it'll exit on its own. And, you will lose any newly entered data that was not saved. Now you may ask, how do I save my newly entered data? I tend to exit the app right after I've entered anything. This saves the last thing I've entered.

Other than that, it seems to work fine on my k-jam.

Yes, all their products run on WM 5.0. Also mysporttraining.com has moved to vidaone.com. (http://www.vidaone.com)
