As we posted on before, the n310 and n311 will be amongst the smallest VGA Pocket PCs hitting the market.

While this is not a guarantee that the device will ship in the US, it holds out hope. More devices like this one is a good thing. :way to go:

I emailed Acer US when we heard news of this device. They replied back saying they had no plans to offer HandHeld devices in the NorthAmerican Market

Hopefully they may change their minds!

I've not heard anything to suggest they will release the n300 series in the US but if they were intending too - this could be the ideal device (and timing) with which to do it.

I hate it: I'd just managed to settle into the idea of sticking with my MyPal. I haven't been excited by the giant converged toboggans from HTC (amazing features, but the thing needs shoulder straps!), so I thought I was safe.

But I want this thing

I'm tired of my Bluetooth and WiFi conflicting. I'm tired of short battery life.

I want it. I hate that I want it.

Mommy!

I like it too. Is this device supposed to take care of your woes listed above? Do you know something we don't?

IT looks like a stuby, sideways PSP! :)

It is puzzling. There seems to be a lot of assumptions that this is going to be a good quality device - based on no evidence. It might well be the best thing ever - but surely people are going to wait for a review before making a gamble with an unkown device?

...making a gamble with an unkown device?

I would "normally" agree with you on this point, but I've been waiting/drooling/ranting for like 3 years to get something the size of my iPaq 1910 with a VGA screen. I'm ready to buy right now, sight unseen, (even if the price is very high) if only to reward the ONE and ONLY company that is even trying to bring to market a truly pocketable VGA device.

It's taking an absurd length of time to get VGA into something truly worthy of being called a "Pocket" PC (my Axim belongs in a briefcase or backpack, it's WAY too large.) Acer is my hero right now and I'll be importing one as soon as I see a European vendor with stock.

If nothing else, that screen can double as a mirror. Love the reflection of the photographer.

Well, from the stats I've seen, the battery is much beefier than the Asus's, and it'll have at least Bluetooth 1.2, as opposed to the 1.1. in the MyPal. I can't remember if its wireless is 802.11b or g.

But it's the form factor, really, that makes this thing magic. That's what I like about the MyPal A730W more than any of the other devices I've owned (which are legion).

I was thinking about my post later, though, as I used my current device. It really does do everything I need. Of course the new one is littler -- except for the screen, which is good (am I the only person who wants a large, readable screen, not a little telephone one?). But for every new feature, I'm sure there will be added annoyances (I don't like the idea of those permanently on-screen buttons, for one).

Ahh, the age-old challenge of contentment versus desire...

No gamble, trust me that this device will not have such issues! ;)

"I spoke with Acer and the n311 was actually delayed due to some issue regarding WM5 - no surprise there! They did ensure me though that it will be released in Europe during this quarter so it will have localized English support. I have no idea if it will be officially released in the US but there will be some stores that will be importing it such as Expansys.com and of course there is also Ebay! I'll be happy to put them up on Ebay for buy it now if people are struggling to get them in the US.
With regards to the battery - the capacity is 1200mAh which is greater than the X50v that someone asked about. It effectively powers the same screen with regards to size and resolution but the extra 100mAh and lack of graphics coprocesser and CF slot should ensure it comfortably out performs the Dell from a battery point of view."
