any way to make the exact image of my current harddrive to a new one? my current 20gb harddrive is running out of space and i want to switch to a bigger capacity one but i dont want to reload and reformat and start over. so any way to copy everything from my 20gb to the new one and swap the new one in without the system acting up?

Have you tried imaging software such as Norton Ghost? (http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/backup_recovery/ghost10/index.html)

I've heard very good things about Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/)

I'll second the Norton Ghost suggestion! Been using it for years (and years) and it has never failed me...

man norton is so expensive. acronis is a little cheaper. is there a big difference from norton ghost 9.0 and 10, looks like 9 is alot cheaper on ebay

so i can boot off of the new harddrive after ghosting my old one without a problem?

If you want to save the bucks, then go with v9.0. It's still based on PowerQuest's Drive Image (which in my opinion, is a killer product), and will give you the functionality you need to create and restore drive images.

sweet! why spend money on an older version when i can get the newest v10 for $10 at amazon! just so happens i qualify for all the rebates!

maybe later, i want to duke it out as long as possible...i dont want to spend $$ on another ide drive when i know im going to upgrade to sata when windows vista hits the market
