At the $299 price point the rx1950 delivers good performance, great battery life, and includes great display. Outside of the lack of Bluetooth, all the features are just what the mainstream business user or everyday Joe is looking for in a PDA. I would recommend this little gem to anyone who is looking for a great PDA at an acceptable price AND to anyone who misses the old iPAQ h1900/4000 series design!"</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20051022-rx1950.jpg" /><br /><br />The iPAQ rx1950 is a nice entry-level Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 5.0, though the lack of Bluetooth might be a concern for some of you. If you're undecided on whether you want this device or not, then perhaps <a href="http://www.bargainpda.com/default.asp?newsID=2702">BargainPDA.com's review</a> may sway your decision.

They were happy to find one without a phone in it! Hence the name of the site,"BargainPDA.com"
:D

Good job though, but sort of like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

It is the best form factor. I love my 4100 series ipaq. Hard to give it up.

Here's an idea guys... let's take our best designed handheld off the market and replace it with c#%p that looks like stuff we made several years ago. Oh you don't like that. Ok, then how about 1 year later we bring back the exact same design that was so popular and give it terrible specs. Who are they kidding!!!??? Why doesn't this thing have bluetooth and Wi-Fi among other things. If they could make one to sell with all that stuff for $450 two years ago then they certainly should be able to give you that now for $300. The way things are looking... I'm never going back to HP.
iPaq 3600 -> iPaq 2215 -> iPaq 4150 -> Axim X51v -> now i'm happier with my handheld than i've been in quite a while

Is the Axim X51v that much better than the 4150 ipaq was? The only differences I see, are the compact flash slot, vga screen and windows mobile 5. From the reviews it sounds like if one owns the previous model, no reason to upgrade to windows mobile 5. So, vga screen and the compact flash slot are the only two other reasons to upgrade, from what I see. There must be a size difference too between the both. What's your opinion since you have owned both. I'm interested to hear since I own the 4150.

I own the 4150 and my work mate owns a Dell x50v.. the x50v is a great device, but in all honesty, nothing beats the form factor of my 4150. i take it with me every where, even the lame shopping mall visit. but if i had a x50v, i'd leave it at home. size matters. i am looking forward to purchasing a VGA screen, but i am waiting for the day a VGA screen appears on the 4150 design. it seems however, hp has screwed i all up by introducing the same form factor in a low end model. honestly... idiots.

I'm with you. 4150 + VGA = A 'no-brainer' purchase for me. Of course, that was before I found out about the inability to sync avantgo wirelessly with WM5.

I agree form factor is very important and the 4150 has been the best device for me. It's really too bad that HP doesn't get it.

Why doesn't this thing have bluetooth and Wi-Fi among other things.

It does have Wi-Fi. In reality, this is not a replacement for the 4150, it is a replacement for the 1940/45, but with Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth. Given how much I love my 1945, I've been kind of gazing sideways at this unit, but for all that I really want Wi-Fi in a unit, I still want Bluetooth for my keyboard. Why they couldn't keep the 4150 specs but load WM5 is beyond me. As someone else mentioned, if they pushed out a 4150 with VGA screen and WM5, I'd be all over it.

why are the providing such crappy specs for an awesome form factor pda? its like going to in time.

i've owned both the 4155 and x50v.

form factor is nice on the hp (actually, its really nice), but the dual slot, vga, makes the size difference not as important.

in the end, i think the x50v is a better device.

As an ipaq 1935 and 1945 user, this unit appeals to me. I may hold out till they release a slightly better equipped version, though, as wifi is still not very widespread here in Madrid (Spain). Our Starbucks don't even have internet.

This is sad indeed. HP is dead.

The rx1950 was designed as a low-end device, but you're right in saying it does have pretty "crappy" specs for an awesome form factor. Personally, I think HP could boost their sales by using the h4150 shell to construct a high-end device (something equipped with oodles of flash storage, VGA, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi). It need not have CF, and that's how you'd keep the device slim. :)

I have a 4150 but I wouldn't change ieven if I could get one of the latest models for free. I want better resolution but all the VGA models on the market today are to big and to ugly.
