For once, this is NOT an HTC unit, but a Quanta unit. There's no official announcement about this device being sold in the US despite receiving FCC approval. Check out the link for more images and labels. Thoughts?

This is the second reference I've seen to this not being an HTC machine. There has been a lot of confusion, but this http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4400.html seems to confirm that it is a Quanta (not Quantra) unit and not the HTC Athena.

The giveaway here would be that the FCC documentation clearly says it is made by Quanta...! Rather more significant evidence than the paranoid ramblings of the unfortunate at msmobiles. FTR - the first site to call Quanta as the makers of the Atom seems to have been www.theunwired.net

I believe this may be only the second ever Pocket PC built by Quanta (the Pocket Loox 600 was a Quanta unit). Unless anyone knows of any others?

I just orederd my 1 gig mini-sd card after getting my PC6700 and am giving my normal 1 gig sd card to my wife to use in her camera. That sure is alot of pictures she can take.

Mini-SD AND it's not quad-band? At least it makes it an easier choice between this and the E-TEN M600. Bummer. The Atom looks like such a cool device!

Works well here. ;) Although I'd be edging towards the E-TEN M600 or i-mate K-JAM for the quad-band.

Bother :( I thought this was the HTC and as such a second gen device, and hopefully more stable. Not that I'm sayign it won't be stable, I just swore I'd only go for established lines. I still like the look of this though. Good size, camera and everything else I want. The K-JAM looks a little big and slow, perhaps I should read up on the M600.

I'm sitting here reading this and wondering why Cnet Asia reported it to be a quad band phone back in september. If there's no way of easily turning this phone into a quad band device through some software mod then I'm planning on holding out until the HTC Prophet or Star Trek.

There was this picture second to last two in the documentation, does anyone know or fancy guessing at what this does?

No need to be so disparaging about msmobiles.com !
The http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4400.html was posted long time
ago - much before FCC documentation about Xda Atom was available - that
was published later: here http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4453.html .

The confusion about Xda Atom was created because HTC has very similar model on the roadmap: HTC Prophet (known before as HTC Athena):
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4436.html

Usually I don't post here at Pocket PC Thoughts but this time I just wanted to defend msmobiles.com a little bit. No need to be so negative, we are both big fans of Windows Mobile 8)

So does HTC Athena actually exist? Personally, given Atom has no keyboard, I would opt for Mio A701. It looks great!!!

The discussion about rudeness has been split off to here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=43926). Both people involved should know better.
