View Full Version : Jasjar, QTEK 9000, and available memory

So I've decided to get an HTC Universal. Haing read of some of the concerns and disappointing findings with available memory on the JasJar, I'm holding out for the QTEK 9000. I'm hoping that available memory will be better with leaving out Skype and maybe some other programs that i-mate was adding.
Is this wishful thinking on my part?

It probably is, unfortunately. RAM will obviously be the same on both, and ROM might vary a little bit, but not by enough to make a difference. For example: the O2 XDA Exec leaves you with the same amount of available ROM as the i-mate JASJAR to within half a megabyte.

However, there is good news... the excellent hackers at http://xda-developers.com/ are working on a way to shrink the extended ROM. They will almost certainly be successful by the end of the year. And there's always http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ if RAM is your concern.

I suggest picking up the most affordable Universal you can find (subject to your patience and aesthetic bent). Hardware and software will, in general, either not be different or will not make a difference.

Thanks for the info.
Right, half a megabyte is not worth it.
In that case, i-mate's support may be the most important factor.
Cheers.
