Details of the T-Mobile MDA Vario have just emerged, and if you're new to the game, here's the buzz: a 200MHz TI OMAP 850 CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Infrared, a 1.3MP camera, a 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320) 65,536-colour screen, and Windows Mobile 5.0. The device will be selling for €469, with the release expected on October 9 (looks like T-Mobile USA customers will have to wait again - bummer!).

Online Translation: Dutch to English (Babel Fish)

This looks to be a branded iMate k-Jam.
http://www.imatephonestore.com/selectItem.asp?itemMDL=KJAM&desc=imate-KJAM-pocket-pc

a branded (ppc) phone is about $150.00 - $200.00 US off the generic price.

I'll get the k-jam for Christmas... I'm tired of carrying my Axim AND my phone. This is about the best I can get to an all in one.

Too bad it doesn't have dual mem card slots and a VGA screen like my Axim x50v

I just wish it has a regular SD slot. Still one of these wizzard decives is currently on the top of my next pocket pc list. I just keep telling my self to wait.. This device is almost perfect. I was gonna try to wait until early next year before upgrading so that all the new ppc phones for the fall and holiday season would be out and we would have the rumors of the spring devices. Have a chance for some of the WM5 bugs to be patched and maybe for that perfect device to come out.
The more i think about it, besides size and WM5 the wizzad isn't really and upgrade to my blueangel. but it's soo small.. LOL

I've almost decided to stick with an SD device. The E-Ten m600 or the Atom (pending more information about its availability). There is still time for other devices to surface.

I'm just not sure I would ever use keyboard. Maybe I would once I had it.

I'm with you on the whole WM5.0 bugs. It actually concerns me a great deal. Are these OS bugs or OEM bugs? How will they be resolved? ROM updates is such an extruciatingly frustrating process because you never know when/if they will come out.

I'd prefer to have MS and the OEMs get it right the first time. Atleast then my device is usable until a ROM shows up.

I'm using the K-Jam at the moment. It's a really cool little device. Having a all in one device is a real boon for me.

But I'm returning it for the Vario whe. it comes out in the UK. As it will save me about 200 pounds,

The Atom has a mini-SD slot too.

I looked at the M600 too, but what does it offer over the Wizard other than SD instead of MiniSD?

It's bigger
It's heavier
It has no keyboard
Less keys on the front
Only 802.11b instead of g
Only Bluetooth 1.2 instead of 2

Other than the SD/MiniSD thing, it doesn't beat the Wizard in any way at all - unless I'm missing something?

I don't think it has EDGE support either :?.

Well... the Atom is still on my list. I'm over the whole groaning thing. I'm just concerned that the Atom is obviously meant to be a media device. Yet by going with the MiniSD I would have to take an immediate step back. And the screen is 2.7 as opposed to my Eten's 2.8 . Not sure how much smaller I can go.

My 512mb SD is already filled up without media content. Hopefully the MiniSD format will make leaps and bounds in capacity at a reasonable cost.

Back on topic: So maybe the Wizard is still on my list too. Albeit at the bottom. Still not sure about the keyboard.]

And the primary reason I won't go for the M600, no EDGE support :(

The wizzard is still top on my list. It could probably be knocked off by a US version of the universal. Maybe. I have a blueangel now so the universal isn't that much bigger. But i have always wanted one of those little bitty PPCs. And now it has a keyboard (which i don't think i can live without now that i've had one).
Still must wait..... :mecry:

I've had the luxery of playing with one a couple weeks ago (T-Mobile product training), and it is a neat device. I have the compact, which apart from the little bugs, i absolutly love, but i am probably getting this one. E-mail is soooo much easier with the keypad.

Engadget says the T-Mobile USA won't have this until early 2006.
