Microsoft Games Studio has tapped mobile maker IN-FUSIO to create a suite of applications (games, ringtones, etc.) based on the hit Xbox game, starring the Master Chief. Halo 2 cemented the franchise's place as a phenom, with first-day sales totaling $125 million. A movie based on the game is due in 2007."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20051004-Halo.jpg" /><br /><i>Picture from <a href="http://www.xbox.com/">Xbox.com</a></i><br /><br />The Covenant have invaded your mobile device, and Master Chief needs your help to defeat them. While I have no clue as to whether Halo will be making its way to the Pocket PC, I think it's neat that it has at least jumped into the mobile gaming space. This would be absolutely sweet on the Dell x50v/x51v series with their graphics processors!

My thoughts exactly. Now that Windows Mobile 5.0 brings Direct3D support, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing some really sweet games. 8)

While Halo2 is a great game I always thought the single-player misson ends way too soon and really just is an introduction to Halo3.

Although, it would be a cool game on the pocket pc :).

Good to see. My gf just told me tonight that apparently she broke my Sony PSP which I hand lent her (I'd barely seen it myself these last few months).

That and my recently broken PDA2k, it's as if the gaming gods are trying to steer me true (in the direction of newer, more powerful gaming PPCs).

I think the articles are stating that the game is for mobile cell phones, nothing else. That was what I understood from both articles. Halo on the PSP would be nice. Microsoft has no plans for a xbox handheld, so why not make it for the PSP. Would be nice though on a PocketPC if we didn't need a high end model and windows mobile 5.

Well, we don't even know if it'll be hitting Pocket PC screens yet. ;)

The articles only referenced mobile cell phones really. No thanks. Halo on a small tiny screen?! What are they thinking.

Hate to be the one telling you but this deal is horrible.

Look at Age Of Empires 2 they are bringing to phones...

Now look at Age Of Empires 1 ported to PocketPC few years back...

I would hate to scroll just to play the game on my cell phone. Stupid idea. It will probably only work on certain models of phones too.

I bet this Halo implementation will be nothing compared to the real console/pc game. I mean, I'm sure it won't be 3D like the real deal. Mobile devices aren't that powerfull yet (not even the Dell Axim X50V). Halo will look sort of like 8 bit machines looked back then, at the most it will have parallax graphics or something like that (after seeing what in-fusio is capable of doing). The only true 3D game that has been ported to the Pocket PC successfully IMHO is Lara Croft's Tomb Raider, but I think it was done by the original developer (Core).

On the mobile phone front, I've played Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow 3D on my sonyericsson K700i and even though it's called 3D, it's not really 3D, it's a mixture of parallax and 3D, which looks cool but not the same as the console game.

I know Pocket PCs are somewhat more powerful than mobile phones with java or mophun platforms, but I have many doubts on In-Fusio game quality.

I hope Microsoft Game Studios finds another developer for such great franchise. I hate to see Halo Mobile fail.

Well, I totally forgot about yesterdays news about Quake so I take that back!!! :)

The only problem now is how good of a job In-Fusio is going to make with Halo. However, I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt... :)

Cheers!

As for that Halo movie, I have two words for you: Peter Jackson. That's right, the Lord of the Rings himself is the Executive Director.

Hmm. Covenant Grunts and Hobbits. I see something in common there. ;)

Wow that's interesting, I would've figured him more for traditional lores (LOTR and King Kong), instead of a scifi/action video game story...
