While some retailers have been selling since the first day of GITEX, like all i-mates that are sought after highly, this one is proving to be elusive to most who want to get their hands on it. With initial prices reaching around $800 - $900 USD, if you're eager to get your hands on one of these, you may just want to sit back and relax. Let the reviews roll in and grab it in a month or so - when availability is worked out and prices hopefully come down!

I received my k-jam from expansys yesterday morning and have been checking it out since trying to decide which to keep, the k-jam or the JasJar

The k-jam is a nice unit and having sold my JAM a month ago on ebay in expectance of the k-jam I fully expected this would become my main phone/PDA. However the Jam was delay and the JasJar came available a few weeks ago and so I grabbed that and now I'm not sure I can give it up.

The keyboard on the JasJar is so much more usable than that on the k-jam, not just because its a little larger but also because the keyboard on the k-jam has the numeric digits as shift keys on the QWERTYUIOP row of keys and that takes some getting used to when you are a fairly fast typist. Actually while playing with the k-jam I have found I use the virtual keyboard about 50/50 compared with the slide out keyboard whereas I use the hard keyboard 90% of the time on the JasJar

anyway, if you are in UK/europe Expansys are still showing stock available so grab 'em while they are hot

I ordered mine this morning from Expansys.

I've been a bit undecided about if it's the right one to go with. The keyboard does look a bit small for my fat fingers. :) I'm also concerned about the speed of the processor and that my X50v's wonderful display might be a bit tough to give up.

But the JJ is just to big for me to carry in a pocket all the time (played with the MDA Pro in a local T-Mobile) and I couldn't think of a way round that one (but I loved the keyboard).

So if it's okay (K-Jam) I'll keep it but if it's not I'll use the 21 day return from expansys :)

I think it would require exceedingly fat fingers to have an issue with the k-jam keyboard. the buttons are a fairly good size and that combined with good spacing makes it quite usable once you get used to where non alpha characters are in relation to a normal keyboard

in regards to the 21 day expansys return, just make sure you don't open the software to install activesync 4 in order to sync as that immediately loses you a 25% restocking fee. see their terms (http://www.expansys.com/terms.asp) for more info on that

Thanks for the TIP Aviator. Don't think I'll open the software :)

Looks like the keyboard might be alright for me cool!

It's nice to have these tough choices, isn't it! :D

I'm still undecided myself. I'll need to play with one in the flesh really to make my mind up.

I'm not sure playing with one in the flesh will neccessarily help. I've been using the JasJar since the day after it was available (i.e. about 3 weeks or so) and the k-jam since yesterday.

having been an avid Jam fan I thought having both JasJar and k-jam in my hands would make it much easier to decide and indeed I assumed I would know right away when the second device hit my sweaty palms.

unfortunately, after nearly 48 hours of having both in my hands at the same time I really cannot decide as both have such excellent merits though I am probably tending more towards the JasJar due to screen size, keyboard size, 3g etc and if you can accept the device size these things far outweigh that single issue

We'll really have to cut down on Jon's raw meat diet as it's clearly binging out his violent side.

Has anyone heard a any kind of confirmation that Cingular will be getting this phone late October?

Other than that pretty sad looking power point slide.
