Doesn't orb do all of this for free?

If 1-view stored the files for me on a server somewhere that would maybe make it worth the $90.

If you are saavy enough to figure out how to map an incoming connection through your router to your desktop then it seems you'd be saavy enough to just setup an FTP client and server.

1-view does store any files you download on the 1-view server. Also, I believe the 1-view software creates an outbound connection to the 1-view server from you PC so no inbound firewall rules are required. Does this help?

You're right, it's a step in the right direction. It looks like they cache 15 mb worth of files between your pc and your device. And the client on the PC connects to their servers so accepting incoming connections shouldn't be a problem.

I'm checking orb out again right now. They use a standard browser interface on the PDA I think - not as easy as a dedicated client.

Yes, Orb is web-based. The major factor differentiating it and 1-View is the interface. 1-View is driven on a well-developed stand-alone interface, and the service itself offers a bit more than what Orb does. Then again, Orb is helping to extend functionality with third-party plugins, so it's hard to say which is the better product. 8)

yeah... i'll be wasting that $90 on the mini sd card i have to buy because the k-jam doesn't have an sd slot. ;)

I got my 1GB miniSD for less than that. Worst case scenario, you get the same Sandisk model I did and get some change. Better case, you get a better model ;)
