Looks like a nice mid-range PPC on the horizon in this package.

Looks a LOT like my 4150. Maybe this is more about stretching the iPaq line out a little longer.

I think iPaq has too complex a line of PocketPC's anyway. The choice is nice for consumers but with each model there is a higher cost for a different design. Higher costs mean lower margins for HP which is ultimately NOT good for consumers.

FINALLY, FINALLY, the h1900, h4100 form factors are back. Kudo to HP.

I have been waiting for this day for a long time. :D :D

By the way, those pics are too close to H4155. I am not sure those pics are true now.

I wonder when these models are released, if HP will discontinue some of their older iPAQs like the h2215, h4355, and the h4155 models. (which are still available on the HP website) Will they also discontinue the rx3100/3700 series? I wouls at least discontinue the rx3100, since it has the same specs as these new models.

Bah. I don't care. I'm saving up for an HTC Apache. (which hopefully will be available on Verizon.)

I’ve always loved the slim 1900 design. If they can get a flip cover and GSM in this I think I would have to give up Qwerty and get this over the others I’m tracking (the Moto Q, the BenQ and the HP Mobile Messenger.) Full functional + big-ish screen + fits (barely but I think tolerably) in jeans pocket is hard to beat. To do that the flip cover would have to be like that of the Jornada in not increasing the size.

Wait a minute..... that is EXACTELY the same shell as the 4150. Either HP are seriously cutting back production costs or the pictures are fakes......

Who knows these days with HP :?:

I hope it is true that HP would return to the 1945 form factor.

If it is...is there any way they can get a VGA screen in there?

Hey it's me old friend the 4150 again! :D

If they include a VGA screen and WM2005, then it would make an already perfect unit even more perfect. :D

No they are not the same cases, Google the 4150, although the design is similar to the older 4150, the area around the buttons are not the same.

After comparing with existing H4150 pictures, I can definitly verifiy that those pictures are H4150, WITHOUT ANY MODIFIY.

The whole picture is just a merge of four pictures in CNET h4150 reviews.

Not fun at all. Very disppointed.

Verify? I think we're a little away from "verifying" anything. Right now, it just looks similar.

Amazing. First they get rid of the unfortunate Carly Fiora (or whoever, I am not even interested enough in her to get her name right) and he foolish plan to buy Compaq. Now, they have done away with the unfortunate oversquare, overpriced, underfeatured, and underpowered PDA approved under her leadership. Maybe HP/Compaq will make up some ground in the PDA market again.
As noted above their current line is a total mess. They only needed the two lines they had with the 1900/4100 casing and the 2200 casing. They could have added VGA or thumbprint scanners to the 2200 if they really wanted to. Their whole current lineup is ridiculous.

Wow, the PPC crowd around here must be getting younger. I can't believe there haven't been more folks commenting on how these are just photos of the h4150/4155. I've still got my h4155 in service, so if HP is going to do something as unimaginative as release a new device in an old shell, the least they can do is offer us h4155 owners a WM 5 upgrade.

Yes, this is probably the best looking device other than the hx4700 that hp has released recently. Looks identical to the 4150.

And that is not verification, just a theory. If you look at them, the buttons have different reflections on them. And the icon on the far right buttons does look like an antenna.

I'm looking at my 4150 and this is either HP using the exact same shell or is all a rumour. You would think that if HP did plan on using the same shell they would change a couple things just a little bit, just to differentiate.

My thinking is that this is only a rumour.

If the icon on the last button is the only difference, I will say it must be fake. It's very easy to get that.

By the way, there is no bluetooth in this model from the rumor, but the picture shows a bluetooth LED, do you think it is normal?

*Cheers* To right, if HP brought back the 2210 and the 1900/4100 with new featues HP could go a long way to get back some of their lost market share.
Long live HP (but only if this rumour is true, if not I couldn't care less)

This is awesome if its true. I too have been waiting for a 1900 form with WiFi. The 1915 was the nicest ppc ive ever had, but since I needed wifi I was forced to upgrade to the ugly rx3715.

I'll say this right now: if they make a 1900 form with wifi and a vga screen, I'm buying one.

This is a really strange model, even for HP who appear to have completely derailed their line of pocket pc's over the past couple of years.

It is essentially a h4150/4155 (a 3 year old model) with WM5.

Only differences from what I can gather:

1) It has a Samsung 300MHz processor rather than an Intel X-scale 400MHz
2) Its has 64Mb of ROM and 32Mb of RAM rather than the other way around
3) It has no bluetooth
4) The iTask button has been replaced with a button to toggle WiFi
5) It has WM5

Was this the work of a 15 year old kid on work experience at HP? 8O

They said that (TodoPocketPC) from the begining that the design is the same with the only difference that this one instead of the iTask button it has a WiFi icon in that button.

Wow, this is a tough one. I so passionately wanted HP to release a VGA device in the 4150 form. I waited and waited and waited. The problem is that since I picked up my RAZR and Rio, I hardly ever use my PPC anymore. Unfortunately, I don't really miss it much. And when I do use it, it is primarily to read avantgo content on the commute to work.

IF this device is real and IF it has VGA/Wifi (I can do without BT), I might be tempted to come back. I can't say for sure right now, probably also depends on price. Six months ago it would have been a slam-dunk, but I'm not so sure I can justify $400-$500 on a part-time toy.

Just my circumstances. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. But regardless of my decision, this is good news. I'll never understand how HP thought it was wise to run away from what is arguably the best design on a PPC ever!

When did Pocket PC's start shipping with a Windows Mobile logo? Are they starting this with WM 5?

Well tech so does mine. Its just not a sticker. The thing is simply drawn on the device itself instead of one of those nifty MS Windows stickers. Just wondering if they started to using actual stickers in '05. Maybe that was an HP thing to save money...hmm

So does my Mini. It is printed on in silver coloured stuff. Looks good! Better than a sticker, as it wont come off as easy.

My 4705 had one of those silver "plate stickers" on the back too. It was thicker than the feet that keep the back of the PPC off the surface it sits on. Everytime I'd write on a flat surface, the PPC would rock back and forth because of the sticker. I finally pried that stupid thing off.

Don't know why I had to add that, just seemed like a dumb last minute addition on the production line.

Hey, is the label like the "Designed for Windows XP" logo that are stuck on laptops/desktops? I like the sticker, but it need to be more integrated.
