More XM Radio On Your Pocket PC!

I've tried it out and had mixed luck: Media Player 10 works without a hitch, however WMP 9 had problems displaying the station names. So if you fall into the same category, perhaps our previous solution works better for you if your device is WMP 9. Any way you slice it, we can now enjoy our XM feeds on our Pocket PCs!

I have been listening to XM on my Pocket PC using the XStreamXM Mobile website, which downloads the stream.asx file to play in WMP, but it is not the most user-friendly method of enjoying XM satellite radio on my Pocket PC. It would be nice if I could see the URL and store that in WMP somehow to bypass PIE. Even better, if XM would port their proprietary player to the Pocket PC platform.

Wonder if we'll ever get an XM satellite receiver module in a CF card, so we can listen wherever, whenever, and not just when we have an internet connection. Also wonder if it's possible to stream XM content onto a memory card to listen to later, kind of like the XM2Go. I'm sure at least one of these has to be in the Pocket PC's future.

Make a Sirius app and I will be very happy! That is what I am waiting for on my PPC6601. I am using WMP 9 and not 10 so the old app that used to work, doesn't on my device. But I have been told by others it doesn't work at all now on WMP 10 either............
I can't wait for a real app like this to come out! I am streaming radio on my WMP 9 through IE a lot....... I would love my Sirius account to work as well.

is there any way to get only a streaming xm account, without a radio account?

You can get an internet only account for $7.99/mo, with a three day free trial. I just signed up and set up this approach - it works well. I don't know if I'll keep it yet (I already paying 14/mo for Napster to go, which I like) but I did want to give it a try.

The XM playlist files can be stored in your start menu (or anywhere else you can easily access) and doesn't involve PIE at ALL in streaming the stations to WMP. That was the whole point actually. If you're using WMP 10, you will be able to see the station names in your "Now Playing" screen and scroll between stations easily.

This is great! I followed the directions and it works perfectly. There is about a 20-30 second delay before the song begins to play so don't let that throw you off when you're setting it up.

Is there any way to get the name of the current song to be displayed?

Somebody on each forum invariably ends up asking that. Sirius is set up completely differently from XM online. I have been trying to "finagle" the Sirius servers for so long now (since I was a Sirius subscriber before I switched to XM).

I'm not saying that there must be some way to do it, I'm just admitting that it is beyond my ability to do it...at least in a legal way that I could share with everyone.
