Hi there,

Has anybody had any experience with machine translation software for Windows CE, in particular for Polish. So far I found

PocketTran
http://www.tranexp.com/win/PocketTran.htm

(looks a bit dodgy as you don't even know where the company is based and how much it really costs $79? or $79+$150?)

LingvoSoft - Pocket PROMT

Any feedback and/or info on review I would really appreciate

Thanks a lot

I use Pocket Promt, I would recommend it.

No translation software is perfect, mind, and no PPC translation software is updated often enough. I believe most of Promt's are still at version 1.0 after a long time on the market. What this actually means, considering translation software could be improved by any user (it doesn't take long to find mistakes or eccentricities), is that little is being done to perfect them.

For example, in the Spanish-English version we find "volar" always translated as "to blow up, explode" when it actually means, 99% of the time, "to fly."

I use the French-English translator to help read books and articles. It works very well, but if there's ever a doubt I reach for the dictionary.

In fact these days I don't use the dictionary as often as I use Google's excellent and little-known "define:" function in its search engine.

If I had to read foreign documents all day I'd go for Promt, Babel Fish at Altavista, a dictionary, and Google.
