View Full Version : Thunderhawk 2.1 has better JavaScript support than even NetFront 3.2

I've just tested the JavaScript capabilities of the three major PPC internet browsers (PIE/WM2003SE, NetFront 3.2 and Thunderhawk 2.1) with the online plain HTML + JS-based chess game at http://www.redhotpawn.com/ .

Thunderhawk was the only browser of the three to interpret the JS script correctly. PIE (the least JavaScript-compliant browser) failed entirely; NetFront was able to execute part of the code (but not its entirety).

Please see http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16746 for more info.

Bottom line: if the JavaScript script on a particular page doesn’t work, also test it with both NetFront and Thunderhawk.

Doesn't ThunderHawk require that you subscribe to their service? It isn't a stand-alone browser.

It does. Fortunately, now, its JavaScript capabilities (as far as pure JS compliance is concerned) are matched by two alternative browsers: Minimo and the latest NetFront. One reason less to go for the TH service.
