Hello:

I but a few eBooks, but they are nearly always localised to american english, and the place I get them from does not supply any other localisations.

Is there a tool or piece of software that will change the localisation from american english to UK english automaticaly (assuming the book is in a text file format)

I find it irritating and also sometimes quite distracting to have a lot of the words spelt wrong (from my point of view) in a bought book.

I know importing the file into word and running an english spell check will do this but it is a very tedious and long drawn out process. An automatci version would be very handy.

Thanks

oh puh-LEZE !!!

so you see things spelled/spelt the wrong way.
color/colour
aluminum/aluminium
tire/tyre

etc. etc. blah blah big deal

if you find a program that does what you want, check if it translates german to austrian.
here things are a little more difficult, since austrians use words germans don't and vice versa.
but if it is a german book i'm reading, then i very well know that it is composed in his native language and i just accept it.

if it doesn't exist, this program, then i suggest you just ignore all books by non-UK authors.

sorry for being this dramatic, but aren't you just a little bit too paranoid?

but i still thought i'd check on google, so maybe there's something in it for you :)

http://membled.com/work/apps/respell/
(php-based thing, not sure what it really can do)

http://www.slyman.org.uk/right_projects_msword.php
(plugin for word, seems simpler than the correction method you're referring to)

http://www.zuggsoft.com/index.php?page=4&action=file&file_id=51
(what is zApp development system? probably of no use)

http://www.allworldsoft.com/software/1-028-spell-magic.htm
(spell magic, has http://www.allworldsoft.com/software/1-028-spell-magic.htm)

http://www.cix.co.uk/~gidds/Software/Anglicise.html
(java app, written by andrew giddings http://www.cix.co.uk/~gidds/)

that's what i found so far ... i'm getting tired and need some sleep, but these links might help you some.
if you want more, google for the words "convert american british spelling ebook" (excluding the parantheses, of course :)
good luck
