I've tried wi-fi playback w/ WMP9 on an ipaq 4150 from my PC. It works fine for one song, but doesn't seem to work at all for playlists (I tried many varations on the paths and it always hung/crashed).

I was considering the ipaq rx3115 for the good sounding wi-fi mp3 playback software that is included, but went with the hx2415 because I liked the hand feel better.

What do you recommend for wi-fi mp3 playback? Can I get the the software for the rx3115 and put it on the hx2415? Is there commerically available software? I've tried searching some of the sites, but it is hard to tell exactly what you get w/o buying it.

Thanks for all of your help,
Rob

Make sure the network folder is shared correctly.

I use Resco File Explorer (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/) to map my desktop's shared folders.

Then, GSPlayer (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/) as my mp3 playing program.

I've used Resco to launch WMP9 to play single files over the network, but WMP9 doesn't work for playlists. Does GSPlayer handle playlists over the network, or do you have to install some streaming server?

You should ensure the shared folders are mapped correctly on your iPAQ. I use Resco FE (trial available) but other programs exists to accomplish this. No streaming server required.

I use Pocket MVP to stream mp3s from my network but, admittedly, have not attempted to execute playlists that include shared folder music. Try it with PMVP or Beta player and advise whether it works. You can Google PMVP or Beta player but both can be found at the webiste of another excellent program, Pocket DVD Studio (www.pqdvd.com).

There is a decent chart at http://www.feederreader.com/mediachart.html that tries to include "streaming" support. But if you're accessing over a network share, technically that's not streaming, so any program *might* work if you can crank up the read-ahead buffer.

Try BetaPlayer and crank up the buffer and also try "micro-drive" mode, which I think optimizes the read buffer so it can shut down the micro-drive between large reads. This might optimize it also for reading mp3 files over a network.
