let me preface with the fact I am a newbie to pocket pc and axim; want to get the most out of this device; I was watching some movie trailers from msn and was disappointed; size of movie screen was about size of large postage stamp and quite choppy/blurry; my question is, how does one get full screen, clear images of movies, videos that I read and hear about on PDA (especially VGA)?

One needs to encode his own video's from a good source file... and with the correct settings... and finally use the correct software to watch the encoded video.

Start by downloading Betaplayer...

Or get yourself to a higher connection speed pipe for Streaming. The higher the connection speed the better the streaming stuff looks and acts.

Just make sure that you encode at 250kbps and above for smoother playback. PocketPC and storage card speeds are determining factors too.

Also note that Windows Media Player has a bug on VGA devices that shows the movies as a tiny picture instead of the correct size. Beta Player does not have that problem and is a much more advanced player with more options.

that is exactly the problem. I do have the newest version of beta player (i forget the new name) but everything still opens up in windows media player if I am on the web and want to view a video or clip. is there a way to make beta player default player?

Open TCPMP (Betaplayer). Tap Options at the bottom, then tap Settings... Once the settings window opens, tap on Select Page at the bottom and choose File Associations. Check off all the file types you want Betaplayer to be the default player for.

TCPMP (aka Betaplayer) has some problems with streaming video/audio. Have a look at this thread:
