I want to set a picture as my Today background. I can go to settings, or right click in file explorer and set it, but when I do the picture is all opaque. Like there is tissue over it.

Saw in a forum somewhere that all you need to do is use the Pictures application that came with WM2003se.

What Pictures application? I Have HP Imageview. Doesn't set the picture as background that I can find.

I have a IPAQ HP4705.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Yes I have googled it. Any idea how many hits you can get off of Pictures PocketPC Application?

Same for the MS website.

TIA

I'm not sure about iPAQ, but there should be a standard program called Pictures. With Pictures, you definately can set the background of Today with ease. It is possible that it is covered up (or not included) by HP's picture program. Maybe you can find it in the ROM of your Pocket PC.

Several picture application I use:

PQview
UtraG
Dava
Xnview

All free!

Thanks for the response, but, sadly, I have none of your programs.

Me thinks it will be more than a tad difficult to find on the internet.

Again, thanks for responding.

Actually, those programs are more than easy to find. Just go to this site: http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?sortby=rating&cat=9

Feel free to ask if there is any problem.

Actually, I was referring to the program "Pictures" being difficult to find on the internet. Mainly due to the name itself.

Didn't make that clear in the last post.

Did score though; I did not even know about the PocketPC Freeware site. That was worth the effort of writing the first post.

Thanks for that, Patrick.

Surely, I will be able to find a program that will put my pictures as background. And if not there is a wealth of things there.

Again, Thanks

Here are two other nice freeware site: http://www.freewareppc.com/ and http://www.freecabs.de (mobile site)
I'm sure that you'll have a good time exploring different softwares. Freewares ROCKS. You might want to check out these threads: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34031&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0, http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11104, http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5303

Unfortunately, I think you'll have a hard time finding the right program. There aren't any picture programs I know of that can do what you want. (Again, this is only my exprience) Though, you might find some answers if you ask it in the "Software" category. My recommendation is to use Microsoft Theme Generator http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/themegenerator.mspx, which allows you to create theme with image files, etc. (very easy to use for beginners) :D

I'm not sure, but are you trying to find a copy of Pictures? I don't think it is possible since the program usually comes with a Pocket PC.

Again, Thanks
Happy to help. :D You know, I learned QUITE A LOT from this forum too. It is a really good place to get help. I wish I know as much as most people on this site.

Together with that, you may want to use the free Spb Extended Theme Generator ( http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/extthemegen/?en ) your task files to be WM2003(SE)-compliant.
