Is it possible to search for text inside a web page with PIE? SPB Pocket Plus adds some functions to PIE, but not this one.

Do you know of any util that allows for this function?

Unfortunately, neither Netfront 3.1 (couldn't check 3.2 because of the language barriers), Thunderhawk nor the current PIE plug-ins (MultiIE, Spb Pocket Plus, PIEPlus, ftxPBrowser) support direct in-page searching.

The best results can be achieved if you save the given page to the local file system. Spb Pocket Plus, MultiIE and, to my knowledge, PIEPlus all support explicit page saving (the other browsers/PIE plug-ins don't), and, then, start uBook ( http://www.gowerpoint.com/ ). Then, you'll be able to see everything. Make sure if the given page uses frames, before saving it, go to right into the given frame (tap-and-hold, Go To Frame) so that you don't later have to browse the local file system for related HTML files.

An example with my current homepage ( http://menneisyys.freeweb.hu ):

1, save the page from MultiIE (please note that I've already switched to the frame containing the stuff I really want to save):

2, start/switch to uBook and go to Start/Open. Click the HTML file you've just saved in the 'Books' section. If you aren't inm the right directory, go there using the two above sections (the first 'Open' for direct jumping to outer directories and 'Folders' for hoing int a sub-directory in the current directory).

3, click Page/Find:

An alternative is configuring MultiIE to use a third-party, search-capable text viewer instead of the default Notes to pass the surce code of the page to. Other PIE Plug-ins (if at all) only use Word, which, as opposed to Notes, has searching capabilities (Edit / Find/Replace).

Afraid you can't search in PIE, but YES you can search in Netfront.

To do a search with Netfront 3.1... go to "View"->"Toolbars"->"Page Search" and search away within your current page.

That is, second entry on the menubar, uppermost entry (A), third from the top (C) - exactly the same position as in 3.1.

ftxPBrowser ( http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=686 ), but it's not recommended for WM2003SE users. See for example http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?p=28567 on this.

I just saw that the new Palmone LifeDrive IS able to search within a web page; it's a shame PPCs still can't do in 7 years since we've had web browsing abilities on our WinCE devices; there were 2-3 programs already available on the 1998-99 PsPCs; can't remember if any had that option; at least PIE can't do that.

Anybody knows if WM5 has it? At least it's not possible now and NetFront 3.2 is not in English yet. I really don't understand what's refraining them to translate it. Menu items translation is very simple and easy.

Looking for that one shred of information on a webpage with lots of content? Use the Find feature of the browser to search for any phrase or word on a page. Blazer will look for all instances of the search string on the page, from top to bottom.

PsPCs didn't have a built-in online browser (just an offline one). Not even the PIE's in WinCE 2.x H/PC's had search capabilities - it's only with H/PC 2000 that PIE got searching capabilities (Edit/Find menu).

Too bad the same didn't happen to the Pocket PC version.

Yeah, still there're areas where 5-year-old H/PC 2000 devices are better than even current hi-end PPC's :cry:
