<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/sealball/' target='_blank'>http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/sealball/</a><br /><br /></div><i>"Resco, a leading provider of end-user mobile applications, today announced availability of a new VGA game, Resco Seal Ball v1.01. Resco Seal Ball v1.01 is a simplified beach volleyball simulator. On a sandy beach two seals battle it out with a ball that someone forgot on the beach. One player is computer controlled, the other one is human controlled. During the game the ambient light changes, as the day passes by from dawn to dusk. The skill level of your computer opponent gradually increases, providing hours of fun straight. The game is presented in high-quality pre-rendered 3D graphics with VGA resolution."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20050430-SealBall.jpg" /><br /><br />How... cute. Resco Seal Ball has some great 3D graphics, and since it supports VGA, I'm willing to bet that this game would look stunning on the X50v. If you're interested, <a href="http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=163541&productType=2">Handango</a> have a trial version on offer, and the game can be purchased for $14.95. For those of you who have given this a go, feel free to tell us how well it looks on your Pocket PC, and what the overall "fun factor" is. [Affiliate]

I am not paying $15 for a simple volleyball game. Somehow I expected more from Resco....

Why should it look any better on the X50v than any other VGA device?

Regardless, i'll give the trial a whirl, and report back ;)

Heh, I find Resco pricey on most of their products :)

I doubt you are the target market Felixdd. Funnily enough, I have post coming up soon on a similar topic......

There is a development group at Resco with wayyyyyyyyyyy too much time on their hands!

I don't have a VGA device to test this on, but I can tell from the pics and the description that they have done a lot of work on the quality of the graphics. I applaud them for striving to make full use of the VGA screen and 3D graphics for an application.

However, I think the simplicity of 1 on 1 volleyball will SEAL this games fate.

well, that got very repetitive and very boring very quickly...

Looks like a polished version of a flash game I played ayear or so ago - crab ball.

Only with seals. And no crabs.

Uhh...if they made a PPC version of Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, I would probably consider buying it.

Pretty boring, already removed it after about five minutes.

Why should it look any better on the X50v than any other VGA device?

I was taking into account the fact that the X50v has the 2700G. But now that I see the 3D graphics are pre-rendered, I think the difference in smooth gameplay between the X50v and most other VGA devices should not be dramatically different.

Ah, indeed...

But regardless, you'll only see a performance increase if the game has been coded in OpenGL in the first place... As the X50v is the only PDA to sport the 2700G, there are only a handful of apps that take advantage of it... And they're either limiting severely an already small market, or vastly diluting a game {SCE} :\
