I think both are equally good for ebook reading. If you use ereader.com / peanutpress, their reader is available for both palm and pocketpc. There are plenty of readers for the other formats on both platforms, although, I'm not sure if you'll get .lit (ms reader) on palm. But who uses ms reader anyway, right? :D
