I for one am going to upgrade this AM! PI has been the first application I install on each PPC I have owned, and is by far the one I use most often through my day. I could not imagine staying organized without it and with each unpgrade have found significant useable improvements.

THANKS ALEX- YOU MADE MY DAY!

Carl

I've gone to their site but can't find the process for upgrading. Is there a specific link to use?

Thanks. I went to that page originally, but was bitten by the skimming bug.
I missed that fact that 2005 was on the end of the line for versions above the registration code entry field.

*I think* this refers to the new timelines view that PI 2005 offers, allowing you to horizontally view your agenda split by categories with timelines, pretty cool :D (but I might be wrong  I still didn't had a chance to play with it my self... on my way...).

hey amit nice to see you here... i've been looking for a reason to switch from AF to the new PI (they seem to be more aggressive w/ their development etc.)... hard to find a real differentiator (sp?) though.

They've used this abbreviation in the past, before the Timeline View was introduced, so I think it refers to Tasks View.

Correct

TV = Task View

Wow! This is good! So far I've only noticed relativly small changes to the interface but they are things that make a big difference to me.

For instance, there are now drop downs to change month, day, and year along the top of the month view - which I use all the time since I can actually read text with my sweet vga screen.

Thank you WebIS!!! Good Stuff!!!

I can't wait to see what else has changed!

I don't get it.

Where's the 4-1 joke?

Where's the 4-1 joke?

Given the other posts that we've seen today, I know this is hard to believe, but... this one is legitimate. Either it is, or I just spent $15 on Handango for an April Fool's joke. :D

Seriously though, this item is totally legit. This is an important product update and we don't want there to be any confusion regarding the news post reporting it.

Peter

Given the ridiculous level of over-engineering in this product and the complexity of the user interface, I assumed it was an April Fool's joke!

I probably won't be too popular making these statements given the comments above but, c'mon, apart from bug fixes if anything else is stuffed into this product I expect it to burst.

I'll also be interested to see if I do get contacted by WebIS who claim that anyone who bought this product in the last three months (that was me) is entitled to a free upgrade.

I upgraded, but I'm having 2nd thoughts about all the upgrades I make. PI is a good example of application bloat. The subtle changes made for the upgrade, while desirable to some users, are probably not readily apparent or used by most users. I am re-thinking all the money I spend to get these "upgrades".

If you are entitled to the upgrade price, but not a Free Upgrade, then you don't need to wait for the upgrade code from the WebIS folks IF you purchased PI from Handango. I was able to get the upgrade by just going to the Handango site and asking for the upgrade price. The site's programming was able to determine that I previously purchased a license to an earlier version through Handango and therefore it allowed me to pay just the upgrade price.

Well, I am glad I have 128MB RAM:) The upgrade was free for me. To BigLouis, they I bought in the last three months and they emailed me to let me know that I was elgible and then sent me another email with the registration code.

I'm glad for the upgrade. Like I said before, I really like the small changes that I've seen.

I wasn't really confused. PPCT can be droll, but you're not that unfunny.

I understood that you weren't confused (which is why I responded with a little levity of my own), but there's no guarantee that everyone is as quick as you are...

For those who doubt the free upgrade - my sister purchased PI on 24th November 2004 and received her e-mail with the new code today. I, on the other hand and being a long-time PI user, puchased my half price upgrade!

Hmm... I bought PI5 the day it was released, which was approximately 13 months ago, yet I got an email regarding the free upgrade, including the registration code. Has this happened to anyone else?

I kept my Beta version of PI 2005 and wonder if it is identical to the new version 2005?

Were new items added that were not in the Beta?

Does the Beta self-destruct? If not, what will happen if I just continue to use it?

The final release has a whole wad of bug fixes that, for obvious reasons, the beta does not have. The beta is set to time out anyway, so if I were you, I'd update it.

I'll be hard resetting my hx4700 tonight and creating a new partnership with my new PC. PI 2005 is one of the first things that will be installed, so I'll report back with how the upgrade goes.
