SX66 questions

I've been eyeing the SX66 for several months now and getting ready to buy one, but I have a few questons i could not find the answers to; how fast is the data transfer via cingulars wireless service and is it capable of VPN. Thanks

I don't know about VPN, but the theoretical maximum downlink speed for the SX66 is 7.2 KBytes a second. In reality, you'll probably see closer to 5 KB/s, though. The SX66 doesn't have EDGE, so it can't tap into the full speed of the network.

To answer about the vpn portion, it is capable but omg it is slow. I wouldn't want to do it unless it was an absolute emergency.

Wow thats pretty slow. Is there anything capable of going over ISDN speeds?

Cingular's EDGE network is capable of data speeds in the 15-25 KByte/second range, but there currently aren't any PocketPCs with EDGE built in. Later this year, but not right now. Verizon's EVDO is even faster, 20-40 KBytes/second, but it's only available in 30-some cities.
