flash memory is definitely getting cheaper by the month.

Not very long ago people were raving about how 1gb cards had gone below $100. At the moment, SD card prices are plummeting fast, thanks to digital cameras. If you won't need more space in the next 6 months, just wait & you will probably be able to get 2gb for $100. It will be some time before sd card prices stabalize, they are just gunna keep going down.

If on the other hand, you do need more space, that's a good deal.

Don't forget that you will be paying more than $70, because the mail in rebate means you have to wait for a cheque(check, I forget wich is the American spelling) refund.

I couldn't find the CompUSA or Circuit City ones mentioned, but I've been thinking about getting another 1GB SD card, so I've been looking at Newegg.com. They have several between 67 and 80 dollars (plus 4-5 dollars Fedex shipping). All of a sudden there are a lot of brands I've never heard of; I don't know which are the most reliable or fastest. Along with Sandisk and Lexar they have Apacer, Rosewill, TwinMOS, A-Data, PQI, and others.

Am I the only person who checks Ebay for things like this?

Today I just bought a 1GB sd card with shipping and all for about $72 bucks..

I only buy books on ebay. I've never been fond of buying 2nd hand electronic goods. I know that some things come with warranties, but I still prefir to have a brick & mortor shop to take it back to.

I find those ads deceptive. When you click on them, you find that they are always out of stock of the brand name 1GB SD cards for about $70. They do have generic ones for about that price, so the brand name ads for $70 seem to be bait and switch. (They don't seem to have a stock problem for the brand name cards at higher prices though!)

Are the generic cards generally considered to be just as good?
