View Full Version : Is PPC better than Palm for syncing Outlook fields?

I have had palms for the last few years. Life has been OK but I am very frustrated trying to transfer planning and prioritizing that I do on one unit to the other (desktop/pda).

Since the PPC uses Windows, does that mean that Outlook syncs more smoothly?

I am particularly interested in prioritizing task lists as in Franklin Covey and other time management gurus. (A1, A2, etc.)

Any thoughts?
Is anyone using PlanPlus 3.0 for Outlook on a PPC? Are you happy with it?

Thanks for your help.

Pocket Informant does this, as well as alot of other very useful things. A fantastic piece of software it is.. er, Young Paduwan.

What you would have to be aware of is that some of PI's functions like hierarchical tasks and the afore-mentioned prioritization categories don't get synced to Outlook -- you have to rely on PI's built-in back-up functionality.

PI is bundled with the HP iPAQ hx4700, otherwise it's around 30 of your US Dollars.

If you decide to stay with a Palm device, check out Beyond Contacts (http://www.dataviz.com/products/beyondcontacts/). I used it on my Palm m515 and Sony NZ90. It worked great!

The only drawback to it is that it uses its own PIM database on the handheld. This results in carrying around two DB's; the original, built-in PIM database, and the one that Beyond Contacts uses. If you don't have space concerns this isn't a problem, and I never had an issue with this "feature" on any of my previous Palm handhelds.

The combination of a Palm with Keysuite from Chapura is the best 100% syncing with Outlook. Even subfolders from the Public folders of Outlook on my work PC can be synchronised. I am searching for a possibility to do this on a PPC, but did not find it so far.

I use Chapura PocketMirror XT Pro for my Palm T3 and it syncs categories, subfolders, etc. perfectly. On my Axim X50v, I use Pocket Informant Pro 2005 over ActiveSync, which also works fine. I keep the T3 and the Dell synced together this way through Outlook.

If complex syncing from your Palm is your goal, give PM Pro a try.
