I'm always looking for ways to get more out of Outlook so does anyone have a useful add-on they like? If so, what and why?

If you're into your RSS feeds, Newsgator is always a handy one to have. :)

i love the new yahoo desktop explorer (beta). it's 10x better than google's, copernic, or blinxx. it has an outlook toolbar that i use constantly (you'll never realize how useful a desktop search tool is until you actually try one for a period). check it out.

www.plaxo.com is installed on a few of my machines. Some worry about the privacy implications, however the company seems pretty dedicated to protecting your information. Its a wonderful service.

Lookout (http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/). Microsoft recently bought this tool and added it to their MSN desktop search. You can still get the version that works as an Outlook toolbar. Very handy and SUPER fast. I don't go a day without using this at work.

Nope, not yet. I will definitely give it a look though...

let me know what you think - i use yahoo everyday but would switch if i found out something was better (i've tried google, copernic, and blinxx and they all pale in comparison).

good luck.

I use NewsGator (http://www.newsgator.com/outlook.aspx), LookOut (http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/), and Attachment Options (http://www.slovaktech.com/attachmentoptions.htm), which gives a nice GUI to the process of deciding which file types Outlook restricts access to, and which it allows you to open.

Well, I've had the Yahoo Desktop search beta installed for a few days now. It's nice but is very sluggish. I'm not sure where the slowness is from though. It could be my company's Exchange server but I don't know for sure. I'm leaning toward the Yahoo Desktop search being the problem though.

The Outlook searching from it is fantastic! Lookout gives the exact same results but much faster. With Yahoo, you can do a lot more though. The best is that you can go to the folder that an item was found in. With Lookout, you just get the e-mails found.

For now, I'm going to keep both installed. Lookout is faster but Yahoo has a lot more features. It's going to be a battle to the... um...

I would love to have a rules add-in that moves e-mails from the sent folder to the designated one, rather than creating a copy!
And an add-in that allowed you to specify the folder(s) that the rule applies to would be great! It's a real pain having to create a moving rule for the inbox, close the wizard, then open it again in sent items & create the same rule for the sent items folder!

Possibly not mainstream but I'm running Outlook on a Tablet PC (Toshiba M200) and along with Lookout discusset here I've added Tablet Enhancements for Outlook (TEO) that allows pen input into Outlook, and David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD) Inbox/Task structure.

While not exactly an Outlook Add On, the utility KnockOut will track Outlook and force it to close in those instances when it ie reluctant to do so.
