Hello all,

I'm looking for a basic PDA that I can connect an external microphone to.
I used to use the Toshiba E400 but Toshoba no longer makes PDA's.
Does anyone know another manufacturer that has a stereo headphone jack to INPUT the sound from an external microphone?

thanks,
Pieter

There're no STEREO mic inputs, unfortunately, only monophonic. PPCTechs has announced a card ( http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36151 ) with stereo input, but it's nowhere to be seen as yet.

You'll need to purchase a dedicated sound recorder for this task, I'm afraid. A lot of MP3 players have stereo line inputs, and you can put (pre-amplified) mikes on them. For example, I use my MamboX Media-X P353 ( http://www.mambox.com/P353.htm ) for this - it's far cheaper than any (decent) Pocket PC, and is still better at tasks like this.

EDIT: if monophonic mic in is OK with you, there're quite a few PDA's to support it:

Toshi e750 (cheap!)
Toshi e800 (starting to be cheap!)
Toshi e830 (VGA, pretty cheap in Canada)
Dell Axim x50v (VGA)
iPAQ 5450 (cheap!)
iPAQ 5550
iPAQ hx4700 (VGA)
Asus 730(w) (VGA)

etc...
