I have a Netgear Wireless ADSL Router and have a desktop and laptop connected to it permanently, plus a roving laptop for when I go home (I work away from home). I am trying to access the laptop at home using VNC. I installed VNC on all the platforms when I was at home at the weekend and took note of their IP addresses, or so I thought! I now realise than I only took the LAN addresses (192.168.0.*) and not the real network address as I could conenct at high speed when I tried all the connections.

I have fixed IP addresses with Pipex, so how do I find out what they are, can I find them out while I am away from home, and finally do I need to do anything with the firewalls I have?

Thanks

Gareth

If your given a static IP by your ISP then you should be able to call the ISP and get the IP address by giving them whatever information they ask. If they can't once you get home you will need to access your Netgear Wireless ADSL Router and look at the IP information for your WAN connection.

This IP will be the IP you will connect in to.
