I'm trying to customize some folder icons for my Dell x50v but I'm running into a snag. No matter what resolution I choose (32x32, 64x64, etc) they all look jagged. Is there a how-to for this? I want the icons to be smooth to advantage of the VGA screen like the ones that come with the OS.

Any guides, links or advice would be very much appreciated!

I'm somewhat interested as well. I tried for a while to VGA icons, but to no avail. I tried finding guides on the internet, but met with similar success.

BUT, I managed to fluke my way into something that worked. After I reformatted, I downloaded MicroAngelo (http://www.microangelo.us/) Studio, and made a new icon; I then made icons sized 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, and then 64x64... and it worked! I'm not sure why the demo of MicroAngelo I used let me create 64x64 icons when my older version wouldn't, but it seemed to do the trick.

Aren't the icons usually embedded in the EXE file from the developer? Don't they need to update the icons themselves? I mustn't be enough of a hacker - I didn't know you could hack in custom icons on the Pocket PC. 8O

Well, I think I answered my own question. The process is a little convoluted at this point, but it's probably because I don't know how to use the icon editing/creating programs too well. Right now, I need two separate programs to actually do it though I think I can get rid of one. We'll see about that.

I'll put a quick (and dirty) tutorial when I have a chance (more likely near the end of the week.) It's not too difficult...just a lot of steps to get from point A to point B. It will make your PPC slightly more attractive if you use folders to catagorize your applications. :)

Please - we like to be called PPC Customization Specialists. :devilboy:

BTW guys I use a toutorial guide -

http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/devices/articles/sap_ppc_05.html

Basically I don't use flash but if you follow steps 4+ you can apply them to most any exe you want to change the icon for (With step 4 make sure its the EXE you want to change not that file name they give in the toutorial.

But then again I am not doing it for VGA mode so I am not sure how this works for VGA mode items.
